I'm relatively new to the guitar and nowhere near ready to take on Nick
Drake's picking, but he was the primary reason that I decided that I wanted
to learn acoustic guitar. It must be exhilerating to play like that!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of published songbooks, tablature,
etc... of any of Nick Drake's music. Is it easy to find? Has anyone
published "dumbed-down" stuff for us beginners? Are there songbooks
dedicated exclusively to his music? Any leads on information will be
greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Brad S.

Brad...yes.

"The Nick Drake Song Collection". 36 songs. Wise Publications, order #
AM92388...according to the music book you can get it via the Internet Music
Shop at http://www.musicsales.co.uk

Songs from:

Five Leaves Left
Bryter Layter
Pink Moon
Time of No Reply

I've got the book, but haven't plowed thru it yet. Words, music (standard, not
TAB) chord symbols, and tunings are explained.

Gotta warn ya though...I'm a DADGAD and CGDGAD player...but this guys is a road
to altered tuning hell. I love his stuff, but these are his tunings...only a
few are in standard:

CGCFCE (DADGDF#)
CGCFCF
DADGAD
EADF#BE
DGDGDG
DGDGBD
BBDGBE
DADGBD
DADFAD
DADGDG
EACGBE
DGDGAD
DADGAF#
BF#BEBD#
AADAAC#
AND STANDARD

Am I making my point? It's a great book though...check out his biography also
(called ...what else?..."Nick Drake")...I found it a fascinating look into
Island Records and the London folk music scene of the late 60's early
seventies.

Good Luck,
Fred Albert

My friend Scott Appel is the world's expert on Nick Drake, but I don't know
whether he has transcribed much of the music. His webpage is

Good luck,
