Hello. When I try to create a modern template and use a content field, I am getting a non-helpful formatting error. I haven't been able to find a good explainer for this one yet. What am I missing?

It contains the report definition details such as sections in the report, fields in each section, and any static text values defined for the report. This information is gathered from the report definition, and then embedded into the word template when created.

The Word Template document is a standard Microsoft Word document. When rendered from Microsoft Dynamics GP, the additional information from the report definition is embedded into the document.Several tables in the word template document define the overall structure. All content that is displayed in the generated Microsoft Word document is placed inside these tables.

1.Click on the item within the word template document. The tag containing the name of the report definition field will be displayed.2.Click on the tag to select it.3.Remove the item by pressing the Delete or Backspace buttons.

The item properties will show what section of the report data the item originated from.To display the Content Control Properties, select by clicking the item in the word template. In the Developer tab, click Properties under the Controls group.

Each company in Microsoft Dynamics GP can have an image assigned that is to be displayed on the Microsoft Word template reports.Assigned in the Image Assignment window (Administration >> Reports >> Template Configuration >> Images).Typically, this logo is placed in the Page Header table for the word template.

Import the modified word template document into GP.In the Report Template Maintenance window select the template you would like to import.Click Add Template (green plus)A file dialog box will appear.Select the word template document that you had just saved.

Replace the existing report template document.A message will be displayed that indicates you are replacing an existing template. Click Yes to replace the existing word template document with the one you have just modified.

In 2020 there was an Office security update that changed how XML files are read in Microsoft Word. Since Word Templates in Microsoft Dynamics GP rely on passing Report Writer fields to Microsoft Word via XML, this caused Word Templates to fail when printing with Unreadable Content errors. There is a history recorded on this issue in the following post.

This error is normally encountered when trying to generate more than one template.

The user needs to make sure they always have this option checked when saving "Maintain compatibility with previous versions of Word"

Word only gives you the option to mark Maintain Compatibility the first time you save the template, so you have to use the steps from this blog to re-enable it. -message-when-printing-or-emailing-multiple-word-templates.aspx

I have created template that contain Appian input structure ( ###sample### ) to replaced by the the smart service "MS Word 2007 Doc from Template" but it read some fields and give this as in the figure in others

I can manually add picture controls to the Word template, but in Power Automate, the Image fields aren't shown in Dynamic Content even though "Populate a Microsoft Word template" shows the Picture content controls.

Follow the guidelines in this chapter to insert data fields and design your template using features such as tables, charts, and graphics. Use Microsoft Word to apply formatting to fonts and other objects in your template.

Sample XML - This function allows you to load a sample XML file that contains all fields that you want to insert into your template as a data source. If you are not connected to the BI Publisher server, use this method to load your data.

Select a field that represents a single data field (a leaf node of the tree) and select Insert (you can also insert the field by dragging and dropping it into your document, or by double-clicking the field). A text form field with hidden BI Publisher commands is inserted at the cursor position in the template. You may either select and insert additional data fields or close the dialog by clicking the Close button.

This check box is only needed if you are using the template in a language that prints the characters from right to left, such as Arabic or Hebrew. Use this feature to force left-to-right printing for fields such as phone numbers, addresses, postal codes, or bank account numbers.

First select the data fields to insert in the template and then define how to format them. Drag an XML element from the left Data Source pane to the right Template pane. If the XML element has children, you will see a pop-up menu with the following options:

Form fields representing data elements are replaced with the data when the template is processed. Form fields indicating repeating sections are shown as for-each and end for-each in the document. (Note: If you have selected the Abbreviated form field display option, the for-each and end for-each form fields will display as F and E.) The section of the document encapsulated by these two elements is repeated, if the associated data element is repeated in the data.

When you have completed the dialog options, click OK. This will insert the form fields in your template. By default, the beginning for-each form field will display the text "F" and will be inserted at the beginning of the selected template section. At the end of the selection, an "E" form field will be inserted to denote the end of the repeating group.

The field browser dialog provides a fast way to review and update the BI Publisher instructions hidden in the Microsoft Word form fields. This dialog is particularly useful to understand and modify existing templates.

A "translatable string" is any text in the template that is intended for display in the published report, such as table headers and field labels. Text supplied at runtime from the data is not translatable, nor is any text that you supply in the Microsoft Word form fields.

Your keyed template fields must pass Microsoft Word's spelling and grammar tests. When viewing the template in Microsoft Word, be sure to right-click the field in your template and select Ignore for any spelling or grammar issues that are listed. Ensure that any text formatting is contiguously applied to the entire substitution key, and not any partial section of the key. Formatting creates XML tags in the template that render the substitution key unrecognizable if an opening or closing tag falls within the key.

The user running the smart service must have Author rights to the folder holding the template in Document Management. Attempting to complete this task without the proper user rights generates an error message for the process administrator and pauses the process.

If the node is run as a user who does not have adequate rights to: the template document, the document that is to be replaced, or the folder where the new document is generated, an error message is sent to the process administrator and the task is paused.

Sample templates for the various formats are provided as standard, however you can optionally design your own templates, indicating which fields you want to print and at which position on the document.

Once you have configured the MS Word Options for the applicable stationery format program, you then select the Design Template function to open the applicable MS Word template and insert the fields that you require printed on your stationery.

Every time a template is validated, a check is performed to determine if it contains any form fields that have a name matching any of the valid bookmarks for the format. If any of these form fields are found you are prompted to convert the template.

If form fields are found that do not have a name, then a bookmark is created with the name "noname" together with a numeric suffix. This suffix starts at 1 and is incremented for each nameless form field found in the template.

Hello all, when uploading a csv file I always get one error. The incorrect number of columns: Header (35) and Row (24) sizes don't match. The header or column that is listed in the download file always has an a problem with the very last column in my spread sheet, and it does have a name, and each row does have a value. Since this is a new upload every row value (the word: new) is the same for each row.

I've also tried deleting the last column and that data for each row under that column, but then I get another error in the last column.

Document Template. Applies the document template styles to any inserted fields. If a clause contains a bulleted or numbered list, that list is converted to the styles in the document template. This option does not support inserting images from clauses.

Rich Text Format (RTF) is a specification used by common word processing applications, such as MS Word. Template Builder provides easy-to-use wizards for inserting fields, tables, forms, charts, and cross-tabs. Also, Template Builder provides translation features and enables you to preview reports by using the template in supported formats.
