Hi, I've found this great little parlor guitar from the '20s, I've been trying
to find out the history of it or any information on it. Its a 12-fret May Bell
guitar, solid wood. If anyone has heard of these guitars or has any info on
them, I'd appreciate any information you have.

Thanks,
April

April asks:

>>Its a 12-fret May Bell guitar, solid wood . . . any info?

I seem to remember a back-page article in Acoustic Guitar magazine about May
Bells. It was a very ornate thing with a lot of greenish mother of pearl.

Another source of info would be George Gruhn, of Gruhn Guitars, in Nashville.
His number is 615-256-2033, and his website is http://www.gruhn.com/.

Good luck in your search!

I thought May Bell was a low priced line of guitars made by Gibson. If I'm
wrong about that please correct me.

Distributed by Slingerland Banjo and Drum Co.(later Slingerland Drum) based
in Chicago. Probably built in a few different Chi-town factories over its
pre-war run as a brand name.
