I have begun a dialogue with his ISP, and I am wondering if Tom has
been harrassing anyone else on RMMGA?
It might be amusing, although i get enough unwanted spam on a daily
basis....plus I don't need the refereneces to my recently deceased
father....

I asked him politely to not email me. I did the same several months

Headers of "Could this be your dad?" are particularly unwelcomed, since
we buried my father in July.
All I want is for him to be a man, and to realize that his presence in
my email box is unwanted. One would think that he would be capable of

Is he sending you emails consecutively, or is he hitting reply when you
respond? If the former, he's harassing you if you've asked him to stop. If
the latter, you need to stop if you expect him to.
Yes, I received an email from Tom a few days ago. We corresponded briefly
and disagreed. When he sent the last email, I didn't respond (nothing
offensive in it, there just wasn't anything else to say). I've not heard
back from him...it was no big deal, and certainly not harassment.

Larry, Mike
I have also received unsolicitted emails from Tom Brosseau, usually
about Bush or some irritating political crap. I have bounced his email
addresss from my inbox and haven';t received another in the past days
since his last "missive". He's obviously on a tear to anger as many
people as he can. I have simply stopped responding but I understand
the hurtful nature of his posts to you, Larry. My condolences for your

Well, you rightfully urged some caution yourself earlier Steve, citing
possible mental problems... but all kinds of things come into this -
including life, health, work and marriage problems - and just combined
stress of course.
Damn it, if we don't ALL get a taste of that shit at some time in our lives.
Let's hope that's an end to it for now.
What is even more sad... if such possibilities above are the case...? is
that this place can be and usually is such a broadly welcoming and
supportive environment for people with all kinds of problems or going
through life's dreadful traumas.
Why else would a guy who's lost his beloved daughter in a auto accident post
through tear-filled eyes in here within a few hours of her death? ...or
yourself - or others like you - when you posted about your father's sudden
death only a few weeks back??
I don't know how many countless times I've seen it and felt it here...
despite any political or religious differences we may have, this cyberspace
is a place of great genuine sympathy, support and friendship. Long may it
last.

This is revealing FWIW. I suspect another possible way to deal with any
more stupid pestering e-mail behaviour has now emerged. Whatever dirt he
crawls around in to make himself rich is another thing entirely.
I hold the opposite views to his in every respect. He has insisted on
taunting people here by posting any third-hand hack racist, fascist garbage
he comes across again and again for ages now. I stopped posting here or
even lurking for a while, because of it. The guy is a total arsehole with a
head full of really hateful shite IMO.
When people here have asked him to stop he has ignored them. When they have
responded to his trolling posts in an intelligent manner, he's invariably
shown downright rudeness, unnecessary personal abuse and sometimes nasty but
sometimes almost childish stuff.
In real life, he'd likely have been hospitalised several times for what he's
said to many folk in here. Personally, I think he's a few cards short of a
full deck - whatever. I'd be happy if he just fucked off for good.

It's Usenet. We have no control over who posts here or what they say.
There is nothing you can do to "run" ANYone off here, unless they are being
truly threatening or causing harm in some way. Disagreeing with their
politics and throwing yourself into apoplexy over your disapproval of their
lifestyle doesn't qualify.
If you can't handle that simple fact, you might be a happier person if you
avoid Usenet altogether. George was right...Tom isn't even in the same

I'm George W, Hans. Whoever you are. Pleased to meet you.

Actually I find posts by Brosseau and Polemus a lot easier to laugh

Hey, you've got my email.
I gigged last night and it occurred to me that if any of you good

unplug everything and set the big stuff and stands out of the way
leaving all the cables on the floor. Then I just pull those all

Here's the double standard, Mike: it's usenet so anybody can post
anything they like, but I'm Hans so I should shut up. Gee, Mike all I

gonna "draw" one. No following of my own, ya know, but I have an
open-ended deal for 2 Sat's per month so I can take the long view.
So far all I've done is:
1) I made a poster that they keep on the wall advertising my upcoming
date. (I figure if someone liked me there once and saw that then on
another visit then they might make plans to come back next time.
2) If someone asks me something I don't know I try to have it for
next time. I can't/won't catch 'em all but I've added several tunes
to the list that way --- lotsa good suggestions too..
3) I always spend my break time going around and talking to people,
asking what they like, talking music, etc.
But that's all I've come up with so far.

Expand on the poster distribution...
This doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg...
Create the poster format on your computer ( I use a Canon Utility, but any
number of common softwares will do the job) and just get some good quality
poster paper and print them yourself.
Check out your local paper for an entertainment section and then tell the
venue owner how to go about getting your appearances listed. Sometimes it's
a small fee to get listed and other times it's a free service the papers
provide. If it's a fee service, convince the owner/manager that it's good
business to advertise.
Go the CD route... I've never done this, but I used to have some
compilation cassettes that were recorded at various gigs to hand out. I sold
them for the cost of the blank cassette.
I was surprised to see how well this worked.
Go get 'em.
You're good, you can make it happen.

I didn't even look up anything and I wasn't aware of any other Andy
posts. I'm really going on the content and on the specific things that
were said to Hans. So who is Bean?

If you look up "Andy's" recent posts in other forums besides RMMGA in the
Google archives, his main theme seems to be rabid anti-semitism, instead of
right-wing politics per se. So I'm wondering if that's actually TB, unless
he keeps a Usenet persona on the side, for the religious/ethnic hatred
posts.
There was enough scary shit in his anti-semetic posts to earn an immediate
PLONK for me, regardless of what he has to say about guitars.

I compared headers and it's pretty obvious that the Andy posts are
coming from the same machine that the Brosseau posts come from.
It's not as easy to be anonymous in usenet as people think -- as I
used to think, for that matter.
