my old banjer pickin' pal, Simon, who joined my bluegrass band in the
early 90's, has discovered he has liver cancer.
He's in his early 50's, and a very nice guitar and banjer player, but
too modest with it.
He thinks there is hope, but feels it's the right time to let a couple
of his instruments go, so if anyone is interested in his 1930's Abbott
mandolin, and his lovely Geoff Stelling 'Staghorn' banjo, let me know.
We haven't discussed values yet.
Cliff
I certainly hope things go well for him, Cliff.

Thanks Raf, we can only hope for him....horrible.....
I somehow usually manage to get these Soundclick links wrong, but
anyway...here hopefully is Simon playing Scrugg's classic 'Flint Hill
Special' ( on his Stelling ) .
It's quite a tricky piece that involves messing about with Scruggs /
Keith tuners mid-flow.
That's me at the beginning cracking up at Simon's typically dry
response....i reckon it's pretty nifty banjer pickin'.......

Man, I hate to hear that, Cliff. All the best to Simon, his family &
friends, and to you--all positive energy your way.
I hope he doesn't have to part with his instruments...but if he does,
I hope he gets a good price for them.
