Well, this is interesting... It has just come to my attention that
CDV is now available through Amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com/Cdv/dp/B006KEOAFG/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1324074151&sr=1-1

But the price is $21.01. So they added another $6 to the price, and
then just to piss somebody off, they added yet another penny. Weird.
And if you click on the "4 new from $17.89" link, it shows you 4
sellers (2 of which are actually CDBaby...) where you can buy it for
up to $24.57. I have no idea how they come up with these prices. But
I have only shipped CDs to CDBaby, so ultimately all of these sellers
are getting them from there and then tacking on their own markup.

I suppose if you have some reason not to do business with CDBaby (like
maybe CDBaby doesn't delver to your neck of the woods, or maybe they
won't accept your credit card - whatever) but you want to by them
from Amazon.com, you can, but you'll pay a premium price.

No used ones showing up there yet. There are some used copies of my
first CD available on Amazon.com from various resellers, and I've
always wondered how that happened...

But it's kinda cool to show your friends that your album is available
on Amazon.com.

I always wondered that as well and thought they might be old
review copies that had been sent out and ended up in bargain
bins in used CD shops.

It may look cool, but *I* have never seen that money. Perhaps
someone else has a different story?

Buy it from CD Baby.

Yeah, Baby. CD Baby is honest and much more prompt.

Interestingly it says it is "one" CD.

I have reason not to do biz with Amazon, but CDBaby is nto so shabby.

I think that when one sets up a CDBaby deal one needs mind a bunch of
options about what CDBaby will then do with the product. I think one can
restrict the third parties to whom CDBaby will thrust one's offering. I
think this based on something I've been told and hence it may be wisdom
ill received.

I like the cover. I haven't had a chance to order one yet but
will once I get my Christmas cards and shopping done and my Christmas
to New Year's break starts come Wednesday and I get my wheel bearing
taken care of and stuff like that. If you are an Amazon customer you
can post a glowing review of the cd on Amazon. If you hurry you can
be the first to do so.

Yeah, you can tell CDBaby who can distribute the CD. I told them
Amazon was okay because I figured there might be someone who couldn't
or wouldn't do business with CDBaby, for whatever reason, but might
have no problem with Amazon. I kind of expected them to be the same
price, though.

Oh well, no harm done. Just buy it from CDBaby, that's all.

I know, that seems weird. But I gather that what happens is: some
"sellers" out there just say they can sell stuff from Amazon's
catalog, jack up the price a little bit, and if they get any orders,
they first order it from Mazon and then turn around and ship it to the
buyer. But I don't think they actually have a physical copy in their
possession - there are only 300 of those in the world.

Did you see that part about "jacks up the price a bit"?

The same thing happened to my daughter's book which was printed via Lulu.
But in that case, I think the prices were the same.

I have just received the historic rmmga CDV from Amazon, have
listened to it, and want to say to everyone involved "Way to go
guys." It's all good stuff.
