I play F horn and I have a piece of music from my church that I would love to play but I do not know how to convert it because it's for Trumpet.  How do you convert Trumpet music to F Horn Music?

When the trumpet sees a written C (3nd space) it sounds Bb on the piano. A Bb on the piano is a written F on French Horn. Therefore take the notes written for the Bb trumpet and bring it down a 5th.
Trumpet plays C  D  E   F   G   A  B   C
Horn plays      F  G  A   Bb C   D   E   F

Move the trumpet to Horn into a range you can play and also makes musical sense of course.

Remember to make the key changes, trumpet playing in the trumpet key of C would be Horn key of F with one flat.

Jim, I must say, you did an excellent job of explaining this! You must teach.

Actually I trained in college to teach music--masters degree etc.,but worked
at a desk job for 26 years and retired. Now I do what I really wanted to do
over the years. I play Sax in church and also a big band 1940s band, oboe at
church, valve and slide trombone with jazz groups and now horn for 3 years in
city band.Been doing reading of piano music for alto sax (down a minor
third), tenor sax (up a whole step), oboe same as piano. What I find hard to
do is play Eb horn music on F horn although when I play Bb tenor sax music
on my C Melody sax I do the same----not used to reading down a step.
