Has anyone shot a Fender-style pastel color using a two-part urethane?
I have an application where I'd like to skip the build time and
yellowing of nitro. Did you need a clear coat or was the color coat
adequate?

Thanks, Skip

I've shot a similar finish or two, yes. Not on a guitar, but on
custom made speaker cabinets and on a vehicle or two as well.
I used DuPont ChromaBase system products, which are a two part
urethane with a clear coat.

In this type of finish, the clear coat is essential because the
color coat has no gloss to it at all, and it also has poor wear
resistance. It's only for the color. It shoots very flat and
you don't need a lot of it because the clear coat is where the
film build and desirable properties come from.

It's also very easy to use. You'll be impressed with this product
if you try it. It even has decent flexibility characteristics
so it'd probably be decent even on an acoustic instrument.
