Has anybody built with Padouk? I recently found some nice quarter-sawn boards which I purchased.

It's a bit orange, but nice grain and dense. The color seems to go toward brown when finish is applied, so I think it will be nice.

Any unusual safety concerns?

Padouk have to be heat up to 400 f to "set" apart of that no problem found, But you are lucky to find some quarter saw, flat saw have the tendency to warp lengthway to the grain...

also, watch it when you go to grain fill. Sanding in doesn't work well as the
dust goes very light/grey later on and it looks like it has the pox. Some sort
of clear fill should do it.. Very good wood accoustically. Great for bungalow
floors too...

Thanks for the info on the dust. I'll stick to oak for the floors.

Thanks. I'll practice on some scrap first. Yeah, that's why I snatched it up. Got lucky.
