Lacquer is suspended in alcohol, so I'd guess you would use alcohol soluble
dye. But I wonder if a dye would be the best way to tint the lacquer. I'd
think a pigment might work better.
I'm saying this from a textile fiber background. Dye reacts chemically with
the fiber to color it where as pigment is more like paint on top of the fiber.
I don't know if hte aniline dye will react with the lacquer, but then if it
works as a pigment and gives the desired result...
