Yahama APX 6 pre Amp.

I have this yahama APX 6 Guitar, about 10 years Old. I thing this
Guitar sat longer than it was played. It still in pretty nice shape
, But there is no signal out of the jack.
I had an experienced luthier, (Mike Pellow, Pittsburgh PA) look at it
today.
He had said it was probley the input jack, or the battery connector
Clip.
He looked at it for about an hour today and said the Jack checked
out ok, (he removed the old one and replaced it with a known good test
Jack) and "bypassed" the battery connector clip. These checked out ok.
When he plugged it into the Amp, it made a clicking noise, and he was
Strumming the strings and tapping on the pickup.
He stated, "since the APX 6 has 2 pickups, the chances of both of
them being bad is very slim, so it would almost have to be the
Electronics in the pre-amp
or possibly, (but he really didn't think so) one of the "multi pin
connector wires" and I would have to look onto finding a pre amp for a
yahama 0r someone to repair this one, As he could not get Yahama
Parts. I removed the pre amp assembly myself and looked over all
the wires and the soldered points and all looked OK as far as I can see.
I spoke to a Tom At Yamaha in California (repair tech) and he stated
That the only thing they have is an IC chip, (about 24 pin I think it
is)but that is what has always been wrong with the pre-amp.(Part #
VI750602). But they want like $178.00 retail just for the chip. I
would have to solder it in my self, or get someone to do It. (I have a
guy that repairs MAC machines that can R&R it for me)
Does any one know of any other options (less money, less hassle?
Etc.) That I might have. I would prefer not to use a dean markley type
Of pick up, as I need to be able to control the volume and tone at the
guitar.
I hate to just let this guitar sit, as it is still in pretty good
shape. (Mike said the rest of the guitar was in good shape!!)
Should I modify the body a little and put a different pre amp in.
If I do this will I just be able to use the 1 pick up? (there is a
balance pot wired into the system.) Or is there any kind of after
market pre amp that will fit right in? (Snowball in Hell?)

but it is the answer for future Yamaha APX6 users having the same preamp problems.

I have been looking for you PDF file to repair my Yamaha APX- 6N and the link does not work. The guitar is lovely and it would be almost disrespectful not to repair it. Would you mind sending me an email to drfhe...@gmail.com
