The actual date of GP Maggini's death is not known. It is assumed that he
died when the plaque epidemic hit Brescia in 1632 (source: W.E. Hill &
Sons).
Judging by the label you have, the maker probably hinted on his work being
a copy by claiming an ironical year. I would guess its value depends on
the quality of the copying and the instrument's sound. As well, an
instrument in original (unmodernized) setup might make a interesting find
and add a clue to the actual date of manufacture. You'll need to show it
to someone.
