Don't know about this particular Eberle, but I had an Eberle about 35+
years ago when I was in college. I think the Eberle's were a fairly
large factory operation. Mine was undated, but said it was made in
Czechoslovakia which means post WW I [there was some question as to
the authenticity of the label in my violin] Some of the Czech
factories relocated to Germany after WW II. Most of these operations
were owned by ethnic Germans. Most were or are close to the German
border just as many German factories are close to the Czech border.
Mine was a decent enough violin, good enough for me to use in college
until I got my present violin. There were a lot of Eberle's making
violins, just as many German firms tend to be dynastic. Most would be
categorized as trade violins [i.e. mass produced in factories and
graded for various market niches.] Many of these factories go back
over 150 years.
