I just bought a used Hartke 2000 head at a good price. What bothers me a little
bit is the noise from the cooling fan. Does anyone else have this complaint and
is the noise somewhat normal. As the head is used, does the fan tend to wear
over time and get noisy ? Any fixes for it ?

Thanks for any comments,
Mark..........

There should be a HArtke xx00 fan noise FAQ. IF I had a nickle for every
time I saw this question I could by a new eden head and dump my noisy fan
7000. But seriously, I think the consensus is that they are just loud ( I
know mine is). But not so loud that they cover up 200 watts of bass. If it
really bothers you, you might be able to find a low noise computer unit
or something.

good luck

I recently bought a Hartke 7000 and thought the fan was inaudible. However,
the fan on my SWR 400S is a bit buzzy. I bought a new fan from Digi-Key for
$12 that is MUCH quieter (21 dB vs the stock 40 dB or so). If you are handy,
you may be able to replace the Hartke fan as well...

My SWR 400S fan is very noisy. Where can I get the DigiKey fan ?

I've been using Hatke's for 5 or 6 years and the fans are loud. In the
studio I turn the fan away from the mike. Always sounds good. Don't even
worry about the fan live. You won't hear it!
