Does anyone have information about the outboard gear Christian
McBride is using to get that wonderfully vocal fretless tone on "A Morning
Story" and "Little Sunflower" from "Number Two Express"? As a guitar
player who hasn't touched an electric 4-string in several years, I don't
usually have cause to ask about a bass player's sound, but whatever that
sound is, I love it. Assuming that McBride is a regular topic around
here and that the information I'm requesting may be redundant, please feel
free to forward any responses via email.

I could be mistaken, but I am not aware of Christian McBride playing
anything other than acoustic bass. I think the tone is a product of the
player and the instrument, no effects.

Actually, McBride plays some electric bass on his new album. The Bass
Player review said he used a flanger to get that sound.
