Hi all,

Just picked up Marcus Miller's "The Sun Don't Lie", and it is brilliant. I
believe this is his second album (I could be wrong, I'm only a bass player ;-) )
If anyone has heard the first one (or any other great bass albums) please let
me know.

I already have his work on David Sanborn "Straight to the Heart" and Miles
Davis "Amandla".

Thanx

He's done a great album with (by) Kevin Eubanks but I can't remember the name of it .

How about Lenny White's "Streamlined"? Check out '12 Bars from Mars' and
'Lady Madonna'.

He (Marcus) has 2 earlier albums under his name, both of which are very
"pop" oriented. He also has 2 albums under the name Jamaica Boys (Marcus,
Lenny White, Bernard Wright, and a lead vocalist), also very pop
oriented. Of course, fabulous bass playing throughout. The Lenny White
Streamline album is one of Marcus' first recordings. It's a great example
of Marcus at the beginning of his career, and a nice contrast with his
current work like The Sun Don't Lie. A complete list of Marcus' important
recordings would take pages and pages. He's quite a prolific guy, and
still very young.

You're right; thats not a very long list. However, that only represents a
small fraction of M.M.'s total output. I think that list is Chris Jisi's
list of Marcus' top 30. It's a good start.
