I have never heard of the Budgie Electronic Bagpipes. Budgie is the
nickname for Budgerigar which is the English parakeet. Does this
mean that these pipes are for the birds? Sorry, just had to say it.

As previously posted these pipes are made by Derek Budge, hence the
name.

Budge used to play in the the same band as Les Cowell of Naill Bagpipes,
and having an electrical engineering background work with Naills to
develop their electronic pipe. There were however differences of opinion
regarding the case with the electronic in and Derek started to produce
his own and sell based largely on word of mouth, hence you won't find
the name advertised.

One of the pipers in our band knows Derek and has a set of his Budgie
pipes. I am no expert, having only played them and another band piper's
Bazzpipes, but the Budgie pipes seem really quite good considering that
they are distinctly cheaper than the Bazzpipes.
