He may be good, but really, flying in for the majors is a little over the top.
It's not as though Shotts are desperate for drummers, are they?

He spent some time in NZ a few years ago and wasn't the nicest bloke you
ever met. Has he matured?

I have had the pleasure to be in the L.A. Scots with Carl (Cfelly) this last
couple of years. He has made a significant impact on the band as a whole with
his drive and talent. He expected nothing less than perfection. His drum salute
in our concerts brought the house down. The last time I saw Carl was in Reno NV
where he put a $100.00 dollar bill in my hand to see a show.(I was busted)
Pretty impressive considering I'm a piper!
I wish Carl good luck in the future and I know he will make a positive impact
where ever he lands. Fritz Hoffman

Hey LT,

Are you nice? Have you matured? Is this a forum to sneak in a little dig
about someone? I would have to think not. But I suppose as long as you
post under nothing more then "LT", you will say what you want.

By the way, Carl Lenny has helped me out a few times and I would like to say
he is a good guy.

You sound like a scorned woman!

Maybe that's why you didn't have any balls to put your name to the post!

Can somebody on this newsgroup from LA let us all know what's going on
down there? Last year at the World's, Scott MacDonald was commenting on
how many "rookies" he had to use just to get the numbers in the pipe
corp up to what's expected in grade one. The drum corp has never been a
large one, and now Carl Lenny, Callum Hannah, and likely others have
left. Now the band has had some kind of a split, and from what we're
hearing there will be TWO grade one bands coming out of LA this year!
So how can a city that had to use a whole whack of inexperienced
players to field one legitimate sized band, now beable to sustain TWO
grade one bands?

Why did Scott MacDonald leave the band and then come back? Why did Carl
Lenny decide to quit the band? Why did Steve McGarity, Callum Hannah,
and others leave the band to take over LA Police? Is LA Police indeed
going to be a grade one band this year? Hell, is LA Scots still a grade
one band after all this? Has either one of these bands picked up ex-
Alemeda County players? How is all of this affecting the newly grade
one Prince Charles Pipe Band if at all? So many questions...and all we
have to go by is rumour and conjecture. So if somebody out there knows
the skinny on what's happening in Laker-land, there's a lot of us who'd
love to finally know.

Doesn't affect us at all. We're all local boys and girls.

I'm glad to hear it, hopefully we'll see you guys at Bellingham this
year. Do you know the answers to any of the other questions, or is the
whole situation somewhat shrouded in mystery even within California?

I too had heard rumors of the demise of the LA Scots so I decided to
check it out. I watched the band practice a couple weeks ago in
Huntington Beach park and they sounded clean. Both the pipe and drum
corps don't seem to have been effected by the 3 members that left for
the LAPD band.

I've personally talked to some LA Scots members and they all agree
that the band is in a MUCH BETTER place this year then last. The "bad
apple" or "400 lb. gorilla" is gone and the band is ready for the new
season with fresh positive attitudes.

Watching from the side lines, you'd never miss the 3 x-Scots. So rest
assured, the LA Scots are still the top band in the nation and plan to
fight for the honor again this year.

As far as I have heard from people in WUSPBA is that LA Police is comming out
as a grade 2 band. But once again this is just rumors. With Steven in charge
its going to be a top band at any level

If I was a scorned woman I wouldn't have balls would I! Yes it is a bit
gutless being anon, but I can live with the shame.

I suppose you are right about the anon bit, but he has got a bit of a
reputation.

Tell me why would someone live in LA but play for a Scottish band?
Presumably he has left LA Scots in the lurch with his departure?
