Aye, but if Sandy is in the U.K. and you are in the U.S., you can expect to
add another $80-$100.00 for import duty once the U.S. Customs folks get
their hands on it.

Indeed, I wasn't familiar with his shop, but I took the opportunity to visit
his web-site and found that he does indeed have excellent prices on his
merchandise. So for those looking for good buys, be sure to check out his
site!

Sandy St. James website is at: http://www.sandystjames.com/
He offers 8 yard kilts in 16oz. tartan with a rubberized (?) waistband for
$360.00 U.S. + $18.00 shipping. This is about $100.00 less than most other
kilt shops who charge about $450.00 for kilts in the 16oz. tartan. I
reccommend the 16oz. over the 13oz. myself, as it wears better and will last
longer, but I quoted prices for 13oz. tartan kilts in my original posting as
this is what most outfitters usually offer.

It's only a partial listing. Mind you, I would stay away from the lowest
priced dealers, as their quality may be lacking. J. Higgins or Celtic
Connection would be your best bet for good quality at a lower price. You can
get good deals in Scotland, but if you live in the U.S., the import duty
will cancel out whatever you might have saved by buying direct. If you are
in the market for a sporran, might I suggest Nicoll Bros., as their quality
is superior to Wm. Scott, and their designs are more unique. They have a
website called Piob Mhor at: http://www.piobmhor.com/sporrans.html
Might I humbly suggest L&M for sporrans........they manufacture a very
extensive line and will also consider maufacturing to your design.......
www.scottishfactory.com is L&M's retail arm.......product is available
directly or through various dealers across the continent............(I have
no pecuniary interest in L&M !)

I visited all the sites and had pretty much decided to give J. Higgins a try
first.
I do live in the US so Scotland would be cost prohibitive.
