Why is is that so many of these for sale postings never bother to
give a price? Is it because the price is so ridiculous that the
seller would be laughed off the newsgroup? Does the seller work
for the phone company and, therefore, is trying to drum up business
in long-distance calls? I would think that giving the price up
front would be beneficial so that useless inquiries wouldn't have
to be sent/answered.

You are correct. I posted this for a third party who (believe it or
not) does not own or use a computer. Here's the scoop.

Per Ed McHugh: bought for $2200.00 c1994, aiming for $1700.00 on this
sale. Current Hamish Moore price is $2500.00 for same item plus 2 year
wait. Ed doesn't have computer, so if you'd like to speak with him,
call at 847.699.7749 or email me your phone number and I'll pass it
along to Ed.

I agree with Jim. If you people would kindly include the price you are asking I
would not have to request same. If you are asking too much and I am interested
in your offering, I will most likly ask a few questions and then make an offer.
If you are asking a fair price or a price that only a fool would pass up, well,
you could expect a confirming email or phone conversation straight away.
Any item will sell. The price dictates how rapid the responce.
