I'm learning a new tune called *Captain Campbell of Drum a Voisk*. Does
anyone know where or what Drum a Voisk is? Is Voisk pronounced as in
*voice* with a *k* on the end? How about the good captain? Any idea
who he might be? Drum a Voisk sounds to me like it would be in Poland or
Czechoslovakia rather than Scotland that is if it is a place.
I know I'm going to have to explain the name of this tune so I'd
appreciate any information anyone has.

Thanks,

Hi Greg,

Drum means like a ridge or high point in the hills or mountains.
a voisk ??? I dunno. Probably some Gaelic word originally spelled
with an aspirated b (bilabial V sound) Druim a'Bhoisc ? Druim
a'Bhoisg ?

You see "drum" all over, ie, drummond, etc, maybe someone else
knows what a'bhoisg is.
