What's New:
This is another special issue
In the spirit of "Ask and ye shall receive", this issue contains better
bibliographic info in the Books section. Thanks to: Peter Laban
[P...@pers-m.sem.hhs.nl], Patrick Hutchinson
[Patrick_H...@brown.edu] and Jim Carpetas [JCAR...@aol.com] for
their assistance in compiling the current list.
Several more new Net Pipers
Hopefully better html writing to make navigating the List easier.

Salutation & Disclaimer:
To all that have made submissions to this list, thank you! For others that
may be looking for info, following is a list of sources that you may find
useful. If any of you have additions or corrections to this list please let
me know.
For all intents and purposes this list is specific to Uilleann Pipes -
although there are addresses for more general purpose mail order houses.
I have not contacted most of the following. Much of the info is
"plagiarized" straight from responses that I have had from contributors.
I am keeping this list for our benefit. Unfortunately almost everything I
know about Uilleann pipes is contained below. This means that while I am
very willing to share this information with you, I can not give purchasing
or playing advice.
I hope you find it helpful.

I love the music and make noise on a couple of stringed things, occ
whistles and lately the small pipes. My family attribute my terrible
ear to my ability to play on the pipes and not confess to all the
unsolved crimes of the century. I have a bag, chanter and bellows that
I got from Jon Goodman,in Halifax. At the time he said it needed a new
reed, esp for the upper octave (Someone once asked where the rims were
on the pipes, when I said there were none, they said I was so flat they
figured I wore them off). Jon's offered to help etc but we don't get to
town much and long distance is so expensive. Any suggestions, support
etc greatly appreciated!!

I have a practice set of unknown origins, but the chanter is made by
Matt Kiernan with a reed with an "anchor", as best as I can make out
marked on one of the tongues. I went to Ireland in 78, met Matt (who
was ancient then) and told me that the reeds I made weren't too badly
made. I've made about 50 reeds, with 1 and 1/2 of them ok to use in
this DRY climate. After a while, 3 kids, job and no time, I've put the
set away and tried to keep up with my fiddle playing. If I continue
with this instrument, I need to find someone who can make reeds for
this climate.

(most of the time.) If anybody is planning a tour down to Tex. let me
know. I can help you get gigs if given enough lead-time.

I now have a half set from Mark Hillmann. I should be getting my drones
balanced soon. I have almost perfected(!?) my first chanter reed. I
used a 1 7/8 inch staple made from 3/16" ID brass tubing. Has anyone
else had to go as large with the staple? I went to the Swannanoa
gathering last year and plan to go to Elkins this year. Never buy a
cheap tin whistle, it leads to heavier and harder and much more
expensive drugs!
