Seeking more stuff like this I got Shorter's Ju Ju but was slightly
disappointed.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest some albums as i'm a bit bewildered
by the Davis catalogue.
Someone suggested ESP to me.
Many thanks.

I assume you already have Shorters "Adam's Apple" and "Speak No Evil" ???
Ahh yes I do have speak no evil and it is excellent. I will seek out Adam's
Apple.
Many thanks.

I actually prefer "Adam's Apple." It has the original of your above mentioned
"Footprints." Love the interplay between Hancock and Shorter. Recently
re-released as a RVG remaster.
Yes one of the reasons I didn't like JuJu so much was McCoy Tyner on piano,
i find him sometimes a little busy.
There are lots of RVG remasters around at the moment. Now i understand it is
an acronym for Rudi Van Gelder - the producer.
Does he really have that much an influence on the album so as to take such a
prominent position in the name or am I missing the point here?

Depends on the recording. Most of the Blue Note stuff was fine originally.
I have the original issue of "Adam's Apple" and the RGV remaster of "Speak
No Evil." I can't say that one sounds better than the other. Many people
don't like the imaging on RVG issues. Some like the "narrower" sound stage
better. Blue Note marketing sure likes the RVG reissues. <g>
I'm just thankful for the reissues, period.
