Salaam;
We are desperately looking for the lyrics to this old song: "Dokhtare
Ziba". The lyrics began with "Ma'ra beboos, ma'ra beboos..." and the last
time we heard it was in the mid-eighties. I don't even know if it exists
on tape or CD but would be grateful for information on either, the
original (male) singer and/or written lyrics. I am writing from a friends
account so please email me directly to this address as I don't often have

Afsaneh jaan,

Here is what I remember of the song. I know Vigen sang it (I don't know if he
was the first or anything). I have heard (no evidence for it) that a political
prisoner wrote the song on his execution night. Anyway, here is what I
remembered (I posted this on rmi as well in case it triggers someone else's
memory :)

dokhtare zeebaa,
emshab bar to mehmaanam,

az barghe negaahe to,

roshan gashteh yek emshabe man,

gozashteh az jaan baayad bogzasht az toofanhaa,
be neemeh shabhaa daraam baa yaaraan paymaanhaa,
Keh bar foroozam aatashhaa dar koohestaanhaa aaaaah,

Shabe seeyah,
Gozar konad,
Keh neemeh shab,
Sahar konad,

Negah kon ay gole man,
Sereshke gham be daaman,

It is not a rumor. The poem was made by an army officer condemned to
execution and he dedicated it to her daughter whom he cared so much.

Gol Naraghi (no relation to me) made a song for it. I read in
soc.culture.iranian newsgroup one year ago that Gol Naraghi has passed
away. :-(

In recent times (1984/85) I know Morteza sang it with a new
omposition (kind of western pop music) and I am sure the tape
and CD's can be obtained in Iranian music stores. I have the
cassette tape of Morteza.

The original singer was late Golnaraaghi. He died several years ago. As I
know that's the only one (or maybe the only famous one) he did. I don't
remember about the poet. However, there were many 'Shaay'At' about this
song , because the date of this song backs to the after Aug. 1953(1332) coup in
Iran and executions of the after-coup time . As long as my memory remember
here is the song. However, I think maybe there are some lines missed and
there are some errors too (error in my memory!) :

I also have to add there are some other forms of the poem, which created
by some other people. But, they are not the original ones and usually
they added their parts to the original one.
