I never really liked Death, it's not bad. My fave would
have to be Blue Serge or maybe Amnesia or Morter. It's
nice that they tried something new though, experimenting
with more songlike structures. I would have to say that
this is Ogre's best album, his voice no longer sounds
like shit.

I don't get why people really like live tracks...I mean, they're
interesting, and it's nice to know that Yes This Was An Actual
Performance, but as far as the quality and repeat-listen value
is considered, live performances *suck*. Luckily SP has dave

To me the nicest thing about live tracks is that the vocals
are usually easier to understand...so once they're transcribed,
one can go back to listening to the original song and have
at least half a clue (good example: God's Gift on Mind/Brap).

Well, speaking for myself, and my imaginary friend, I never fully
Appreciated Harsh Stone White until I heard the live version on
the Spasmolodic CD single. It just has a lot more energy.
Since then I also appreciate the VIVIsectVI version, but I still
prefer the live version.

I absolutely love the VIVIsect version, I do like the one on spasmolytic
as well, but I haven't listened to it much (I don't own TDP and don't
want to hear the spasmolytic/shore lined poison remixes since
I haven't heard the originals more than 2 or 3 times). I'll

BTW "Walking On Ice"...first of all, what is o.k.c.? Overland
Park, Kansas City? s.f. is obvious, of course. Second of all,
Ogre says several times in the various parts of the song "all
eyes" as per "all eyes" on BRAP...I don't own BRAP either so I'm
not totally familiar with it...is everything on "Walking On Ice"
sort of a halfway-spontaneous halfway-performance of all eyes?
my friend and I listened to it at 4 in the morning one day and
we were half asleep and got damned confused (it was dark and
we couldn't read track names either...but enough with the

I'm pretty sure it's an extended mix, the one supposed to have
appeared on the Love In Vein single (which never got released...
Inquisition was the only LR single). Also Uranus Cancelled is not
a live track...everything else is though I believe.

Love In Vein on Brap is not a live version. It was the single version for
the Love In Vein single which was completed but never released.
As for the best Skinny Puppy songs, they would have to be Addiction (Adrian

I think Candle is kind of a ho-hum song...it's not fast and cool
like Death or Hardset Head, it's not sad like Cult or Amnesia,
it's not techno-ish like Blue Serge, it's not industrial like
Process or Morter, it's not as experimental as Jahya or Cellar
Heat, and it doesn't have psychotic 6/7/8/add-a-beat-whenever
rhythm like Curcible. What is it exactly that you like about it?
The acoustic guitar? I just find this interesting, it is my
least favorite song off the Process, it doesn't seem to have
anything going for it.
Why was it chosen to be the first single, anyway?
Same reasons as I don't like it?
And has anybody here heard Morphedus? What does it

Arrgh! <draws forth flame thrower, just kidding!>
Actually, I happen to think that Candle is the best Skinny Puppy song,
and I said so when I was part of this thread a very lond time ago, in
fact if you look back at the records I think I started this thread a
couple of months ago! (actually, I can't remember if I started it or if I
was just the first preson to reply to it) Anyway, at that time I said
that Candle was my favorite song, and I got attacked for it. I left for
a little while, but still continued reading it. After the whole Candle
thing was dead and buried other topics came up, but now the Candle thing
has kind of returned. I don't know why I like it so much, I guess
because it is so different then anyything else by them. The acoustic
guitar is alos nice, plus the lyrics really say alot about Skinny Puppy
and what they believe in. All in all it has to be the best song ever by
Skinny Puppy, despite the fact that most people think it's a wimpy track.

It seemed that cEvin and the gang have decided to move more
towards the accoustic guitar sound for a while, when they put out
Tear Garden's "Too Be An Angel Blind..." and also when they put out
"The Process," but now they are moving back towards the electronic
chaos ["Charlie's Family"]. Or maybe they are just being half and
half, switching from project to project, eh?

actually the dub mix is cool in its own way, there's one

Following on my theory that songs have half-lives. The time it takes
for a song to become tedious to listen to. Some songs have longer
half lives than others and the song with the longest half life I've
ever heard is Worlock. I've been listening to it at least 3-4 times a
week since it came out and it still kicks ass. Gravity Kill's Guilty,
for example, is a song with negative half life. The first time I
heard it, I was annoyed by it.
So I submit that Worlock is the best puppy song. Ever.

get some interesting Puppy t's? I can only find 2, the Process one
with "Kill to Cure, Cures that kill" and another with the foetus on
the front. New England area, MA to be more specific.

One good link I've found is a place called Cafe Soundz, their address
is:
http://www.modernsolutions.com/cafesoundz/
they have a great selection, I've ordered before, and if I recall
correctly they have at least six different SP shirts... and not the
usual ones either, they have Dig It, TDP, and Cleanse Fold shirts...
very cool
lots of other good industrial/electronic shirts there too, and very
prompt service..
hope that helped

Past that, Warlock is my second pick.

Actually no, we share an opinion. I think the quotes *themselves*
are good but in the context of the song they really don't work.
But I think the ddTT remix as a song *isn't* very good compared
to the regular songs on Mind (the album proper through Burnt With
Water is *much* better than the bonus tracks).

Seeing as most of Puppy's work is brilliant, I find it rather hard to
choose favorite tracks. Altho I would have to say that Love in Vein,
Harsh Stone White, and The Mourn are some of the ones I'm rather fond
of. As for albums as a whole, I'd have to say either Last Rights or
Cleanse Fold and Manipulate. (What can I say, the album as a whole is
pretty good, with the exception of Draining Faces. I could never get
into that song.)

That's Worlock with an "O." I'm not sure about the meaning
behind it, but it's spelled differently than the standard
english word.

TLLI@ Actually no, we share an opinion. I think the quotes *themselves*
TLLI@ are good but in the context of the song they really don't work.
I guess it is because my first SP album was the CD for MTPI, so that
was my first exposer for DDTH, so I like the samples <shrug>
maybe it is because it is also quite an ironic way to end the album.
TLLI@ But I think the ddTT remix as a song *isn't* very good compared

I like Burnt with Water a lot too. It is on the CD. (or do you mean
there was a different mix of it?)

the mind version was my first exposure to both addiction and deep
down trauma hounds, leaving CFM with much less "new" material.

Who? what? when? where? why?

When I say the "album proper" I mean the songs 1-9 because they were
originall included on the 1986 casette release of Mind. When the CD
was made they threw in Addiction (second dose -- I think) and deep
down Trauma Hounds from the 1987 Addiction single, and they threw in
Chainsaw and Stairs And Flowers (dub -- really the "too far gone" mix)
from the Chainsaw EP.
FYI --
The correct order of original release for all the mind-CFM era
stuff is:
Dig It (single) -- w/ the Choke regrip
Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse (album)
Chainsaw (EP) -- w/ Assimilate r23, Cage, Stairs & Flowers
Cleanse Fold And Manipulate (album)
Addiction (single) -- w/ ddTT

cannot decide among these
also, any live version of tin omen.. not that i have an affinity for the
crunching guitar or anything.. but ogre used to always descend down the
major third of the chord live.. the most "singing" i have ever really
heard of his metallic voice
