I think En Esch & Sascha weren't getting along very well. Given that you
saw him in the VIP section -> that could've either been a
"required" gesture, or what could quite likely happen is that they
bickered while working together, but now that that pressure is gone, are
getting along again. I've seen it happen in my own life in various things
(for instance: 2 people are great friends. They move in together. They
hate each other and move out. They're great friends again)

Seriously tho, you're going to start pissing people off
[not me 'cause I'm a fan], there are multiple dedicated
NG's for MKFMK and KMFDM, and a couple of the interviews
linked from MDFMK.net shed some light on the subject.

And now for my flame bait of the day:

Skold said in a recent interview that the main thing he
listens to these days is Covenant. Which would explain the
sucky, limp-wristed wussy factor he brings to the equation.

Something that has been on my mind for a while is why KMFDM broke up?

Does anyone have any idea? When I went to see MDFMK En Esch was there
hanging out in the VIP section. Was it a label dispute? Was it a
break between Sascha and Gunther? What was up with the lyrics on
Adios? Why does Tim Skold suck so badly?

All these questions and more I need answered.

Fuck pissing people off. I like KMFDM it fits in the genre of
industrial and I'm not gonna go around to 8 million newsgroups a day
when I can post to one. It's not like RMI gets SO much traffic it's
impossible to wade through.

I read an interview where Tim Skold was listening to Winterkalte.
Maybe he said that to avoid the pussy limp wristed image he was
getting.

Thanks for the links.

I enjoyed the work he did with KMFDM. Never heard his solo stuff, or any
MDFMK for more than a minute or two. But then, I like Covenant.

There are moments when it works brilliantly as a nice
counterpoint, like on the washy, more melodic pre-chorus
part on "Now" [MDFMK]. But a couple of the Skold vocal
thingies on Adios were a little too close to that synth pop
stuff those darn kids seem to like nowadays for my tastes -
four chords, limp wristed vocals, and some cliches. Yawn. I
do like his guitars on MDFMK quite a bit tho, simple but
some interesting triplet-y sparse chug chug stuff.

I think the music is amazing on MDFMK, the Vocals are great and the
lyrics make it a band worthy of hte firing squad despite all that.

Kind of like Shotgun Messiah you mean?

Ah, I was wondering about that!

Covenant: crappy wuss synth band
Kovenant: crappy metal band

That right?

If Kovenant with a "K" has that effect, I hope he doesn't
start getting into Covenant with a "C", or the second album
will sound like House of Love b-sides. :^)

Was it a label dispute?

No.

Was it a break between Sascha and Gunther?

Probably not.

What was up with the lyrics on Adios?

They knew they were going to break up, obviously, so "KMFDM will never
stop" is just more of there sarcastic lyrics.

Why does Tim Skold suck so badly? He's a drag queen.

Actually KMFDM has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard. A lot of
people don't "get" the joke but that's cool. MDFMK's lyrics aren't as
tongue in cheek because of Skold.

well, the rumor i heard was that during a late night poker game
somewhere in Toledo Sascha was having a bad run of luck....well, the
story goes that he thought he had a good hand, but no money so he used
the name KMFDM to call the other hand....well, he lost and this so
enraged EN and Gunther that they went to the National Equirer and sold
pictures of Sascha w/a 12 yo crack addict from Bolivia...thus, the
band had to split...Skold & Sascha got together because of their
mutual affection for 12 yo crack addicts from Bolivia....or at least
that is the story i heard.

Sometimes they're 'freakin poetry dude' [a whole in the

works fine *with* the music, but there are more than a

I think the lyrics on Angst and Nihil are incredible and some of the
lyrics on Xtort are really good, like Rules. Terror from Nihil has
awesome lyrics as does Brute. The Problem from Angst has really good
lyrics.

I think that Sucks is pure fucking genius. KMFDM seems to me to throw
in lyrics to trip people up. Like they put in stuff JUST so they can
laugh when someone rips into their lyrics. Like the lyrics to
Megalomaniac seem to be cheesy, it's like a parody of rap always
talking about how good they are.

naw,he USED to be a drag queen, back during the pinhead days:)

and as to KMFDM will never stop,it doesnt mean the band will stay
together forever, its the music, like saying Gerswin Will Never
Stop, becuase all his music will live on,his life story, and people in
music classes will for a long time at least think about it,even if one
person is thinkin about the music,it lives on,if one person [swithcin
abck to kmfdm] 50 years form now finds a KMFDM cd in their
grandfathers old cds,and likes it,it hasnt stopped,if one kid says RIP
THE SYSTEM 50 years from now,its still there

Anarchy kicks ass. FOr Skold's solo record, it is like broken era NIN type
stuff. People say he sounds like Reznor as far as vox go, but I disagree. I
like the record a lot. As for his stuff with KMFDM, Anarchy was about the
height of it for me, the more I listen to adios the more I dislike it.

Anarchy is a good track. Some of the MDFMK stuff is good. However I
have the feeling that the good stuff is way more Sascha than Tim
Skold. I'll give him credit for Anarchy anyhow. Then again, my
favorite tracks on KMFDM albums were usually the ones with the Ray
Watts, En Esch influence. Especially Ray Watts.
