Veda's Yaar Nee - every song taken from Woh Kaun thi or adalat.
But I've heard the movie itself was a frame-by-frame remake, so guess
thats pardonable :-)

Sanam bewafa could be another valid example, 'cos if I'm not mistaken,

I believe you mean 'Bewafa Sanam' (starring Krishen Kumar). 'Sanam Bewafa'
was a Saawan Kumar Tak film starring Salman Khan (recall: choodi mazaa na
degi)

Come on, RDB fans. You can't let some non-entity be the first to
achieve such a rare distinction. Think back; think hard; you might
come up with something.

Ok...this is something from an article that is in the RMIM archives. I have no
idea if it is true or not, so someone needs to confirm it, before it goes up on
Karthik's site.

Ilaiyaraja's soundtrack for "Engaeyo kaetta kural"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
When this movie soundtrack came along with this movie, a church in
the Kerala state filed a lawsuit sueing Ilaiyaraja for copying songs
from that church's songs. This movie was recalled from all theatres when
it was running for about 3 to 4 weeks. The movie producer was so desparate
that he settled this lawsuit out of court. He donated a big sum to the
church.
}
I have no idea of what is meant by "church songs". Is it that churches in India
have a composer sitting in their midst? Also I have no idea if only a few songs
were copied or whether the entire soundtrack was copied. But as you can see the
MD still remains a non-entity. :)

PS: Ravi, before you start your nonsense, do remember that I did not write this
and that I am looking for confirmation and not passing it off as a fact.

this topic has been beaten to death in www.tfmpage.com/forum
and it was concluded that there is no truth in the news and
Mr. Sundara Pandian, after getting highly toxicated, was
defecating in front of computer, the proof of which is
that news.
talking about tfmpage.com, that is a place for ILR
fanatics. They can challenge pancham egroup in
being unobjective and fanatic to boot.
Ketan you would love this. The first time I came to
know of the existence of pancham egroup is at that
site. Some thread about ILR being the greatest of
all composers in India. I was following
it up with interest. When the topic came to ILR
vs SDBurman someone mentioned that SDB should not
be counted as a composer. Incensed, I demanded
an explanation. The explanation came in the form
of a link towards pancham egroup with messages of
how RDB was actually composing songs while SDB was breaking
wind.

Yes just see a recent thread called - "totally convinced - IR is the
greatest genius (past, present and future)". The person mentions songs
like "o nenjame" .... and then goes on to say that every other MD is a
speck of dust as compared to IR. I just cant help laughing at this.
hmmm, so very predictable, and hollow, once again :)
anyway, IMO, the earliest contender could be Namak Halaal (BL, of
course), where every song had at least some portions copied
from/inspired by earlier Indian/Western (including 5th of Beethoven!)
works.
Anindya
boss, that thread was a mockery of IR's 'sensuous' songs ...please put
some time into the whole thing ..
No gundu - u r talking about a separate thread. There is one on IRs
sensuous songs, and there is one indeed by the title I mentioned. And
the phrase "speck of dust" HAS been used.
Thanks,
Ajit
Oh, the boiled frog is still croaking!
I thought you had vomitted out all the bile that had accumulated
in your psyche in that stiniing posting by you. Apparently not.
It still rankles, does it, inducing you to carry that baggage
into other threads? You have my sympathies. Drink plenty of
water; go to the toilet as often as needed; take a Prozac pill;
get the nurse to slap you on the back. When you experience a
bit of a relief, ponder this: You brought it upon yourself by
overclaiming and then being too mulish to admit it--perhaps
to yourself, as well. That's perhaps what happens to people
like RDB also. They overcommit themselves, taking on more
assignments than they have genuine musical talent with which
to fulfill them, ending up frantically recycling what they
can get their hands on.
If nettors are wondering about the reference to the frog, it's
this: a frog that somehow finds itself in water that is being
heated, feels very comfortable initially. By the time it
realizes that something's wrong, it's too late; it has been
cooked. All that's left for it are a few ugly gtrrrs.

Anindya,
I assure you everyone reading this is ROTFL.
Quit RMIM *now* while you still have some respect.

"Andy" listen to Ashok. He speaks from a lot, and I mean a lot, of first hand
experience. The RMIM archives are littered with examples of him being a French
delicacy.
:)
Ketan

Gee...RK, if *respect* is all it took to be on RMIM, you should have left some
6-7 years ago.

"Ashok" and "delicacy" in the same sentence? That's a first!

Sorry dude I never had any delusions of being respected from
RDB fanatics.
I am very much satisfied with the acknowledgment that my
RDB bashing is very much justified.
I would have recvd at least 10-15 mails from old time
RMIM'ers/RSC'ers who acknowledged that I am vindicated,
thanks to Karthik's site, quite a few of them expressing
shock that PanchamDa is # 1 in that site. Did they
mail me out of respect. I dont know and I don't care.
RK-
> Sorry dude I never had any delusions of being respected from

typo.
that should read:-
respected by RDB fanatics.
RK- [ just preempting some wisecracks ]
yes, buddy, they are...at you. Becoz this is what YOU had written
earlier:
"If Engleesh (did I spell it right) is not your strong point, please
say so. I would switch over to Hindi."
if you are talking about the relative proficiency in the language -
you vis-a-vis me (not that it matters in the least, in a forum meant
for HFM, but since YOU started it), then I'm SURE they ARE having a
good laugh, THAT'S what I meant. (I think, next time around, I'll
attach a Babel fish - not that you'd understand the reference, but
never mind - along with my post) To illustrate further - sample this
beauty:
"I am very much satisfied with the acknowledgment that my RDB bashing
is very much justified."
I am "very much" convinced that a sentence like that will never find
its way into any Grammar book, not even Pidgin English ones.
and then, this:
"I would have recvd at least 10-15 mails from old time
RMIM'ers/RSC'ers who acknowledged that I am vindicated, thanks to
Karthik's site, quite a few of them expressing shock that PanchamDa is
# 1 in that site. "
the bad loser has now resorted to drawing references to imaginary
private mails by imaginary mailers. Or, if they AREN'T indeed
imaginary, what are they doing writing to YOU in private, if their
contention is as strong (!) as yours (or may be THAT'S why :)). I
can't say I have a lot of respect for their views - I mean, what kind
of people would mail YOU for any discussion of any kind?
Did they
mail me out of respect.
(ROTFL indeed...YOU said it, not I!)
doubt it, RK!
I dont know and I don't care.
neither do I, YOU said it again. ROTFL again!
>Quit RMIM *now* while you still have some respect.
And leave the field open for juvenile delinquents? Sorry, buddy, but I
have no such intention. But, as I suspect, if this is actually an
appeal in reverse for ME to STOP picking on YOU (similar to your
earlier proposal of switching over to Hindi, since YOU were probably
finding the conversation a bit difficult to follow), then it's a
different matter.
don't worry, since I'm NOT a vegetarian, I'll NOT be eating you for
breakfast, after all...so feel free now to take that tail out from
between those legs, and start those rabid rantings...they DO provide a
good laugh.
Ashok: I *loved* this:-
> > That's perhaps what happens to people
> > like RDB also.
Groucho belches, Chico claps..blissfully unaware that THEY are the
ones actually being laughed at. :)
Frankly, outside of the Marx brothers, this Ashok-RK combo is one of
the most hilarious, foot-in-mouth combos I've ever seen.
RK, on the contrary, talking of exits, maybe YOU should consider one -
for one, it'll immediately and dramatically improve the average IQ of
RMIM-ers.
No, on second thoughts, don't leave. I just love your posts, for their
simplicity and linearity of thought-process (so what if there's no
musical analyis to back them up - everyone doesn't have to be
perfect)- quite a welcome change from the convoluted, confused
ramblings one sees in certain other posts.
But meanwhile, like I suggested earlier too, it might be a good idea
to consider growing up and getting a life for yourself. I know it's
not easy, and growing up means different things to different people.
For you, a graduation from size "L" to size XL" diapers can be
considered a significant achievement.
Anindya
digression anindya - what is grammatically incorrect in the sentence
"I am very much satisfied with the acknowledgment that my RDB bashing
is very much justified." ?
Regards,
Ajit.
