Chachi 420 and Hariharan

Hello,
After listening to Chachi 420, I must say, I am about to apply
for Hariharan Fan Club membership too. He seems very talented.
Listen to the two songs of his: dauDa dauDa and ga re do re, and
you may feel the same way. The ease with which he has pulled off
these numbers is very impressive. The difference between a tired
voice and a young-energetic-dominating voice has never been
more obvious to me than in the second song. He has almost completely
overshadowed Asha :-(
Has Kamal Hassan sung in the past too. He has done a very decent
job in 'jago gori'.

Yes, he has sung in the past. I don't know if the song in
Chachi 420 is his first Hindi song though. One of his songs 'Sundari
neeyum Sundaran njanum' was quite a hit.

I don't think Kamal Haasan has sung in Hindi movies. But he has sung
quite a few songs in Tamil films. Some of these songs went on to become

I dont think its his first hindi song ... i think he "sung" in Sadma ...
the equivalent of the "Nari kadhai" which he tells Sridevi. I think the
Hindi song goes "Ek <somthin> ek jungle tha" ...

As pointed out by several nettors, Kamalahasan has been singing in Tamil movies
for a while.
The recent hit song of Viraasat by K. Sanu "Payali Jun mum ..." was
originally sung by kamalahasan called "Inji iduppalagi ...". I would
consider this has one of his best songs.
We sang this for a music program. In fact, my son who does not speak
Tamil sang this song.
Just a side comment here about the Hindi version. I did not like the fact
that Anu Malik copied this song from Ilayaraaja (I do not like copying as I
feel the composer robs us of a chance to hear a song; but some cases it is
okay if we had no choice of listening to the song otherwise. Many in the
North have got to listen to Ilayaraaja's music in this way). But, for the
first time I like the copied version also. The use of flute is excellent,
and that flute coming back often sounds real good. For a change, I liked
K.Sanu's singing in this. However, I did not like how Chithra's voice is
used.

In Hindi films, one more song that Kamal has sung is
raajaa naam meraa, jo na bhool kare
for Appu Raja. The tamizh original for this was also sung by Kamal as
per the list provided by another nettor.
