It seems there are lot of g's [ :-) ] out there who are real hardcore fans
of Rahul Dev Burman. So am I. I'm also a great fan of Salil Chowdhury's
music. So here I'm trying to compile a list of RD's as well as SC's songs which are influenced by some other type/kind of music. You are highly encouraged
to add ....

Sorry to digress from the main topic, but I have question regarding this tune. I think RD has used it in another song. Rem. the Holi song in Kati Patang "Aaj na chhoRenge bas humjoli, khelenge hum holi....." ? KK sings a faster and diff. tune (happy) while Lata sings a slower sad tune "Apni apni qismat hai ye koi hanse koi roe...." All in all, it's a great song. The question I have is whether the Lata portion and "Mere naina sawan bhadon...." are based on the same raga (Raga Shivranjani, as Sambit mentione
d above) Also, I find the oldie "Main to tum sang nain milake haar gaee sajna....." to have a similar tune. Cud we put these songs in the category of songs with similar "metre" which was discussed earlier on RMIM.
Kindly educate this Raga-illiterate.
