Interesting question !!! The only 2 actresses that I can think of that he has
done no films with are Nargis and Rekha. Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi really
don't count I guess, since they were really not big in commercial cinema.

This could be called a mini quiz, as well as a means of getting some info.
I believe that Dev Anand is probably the only(or one of the very few) who has
acted with all the leading actresses of his time starting from the late 40's to the
mid-to-late 70's. Thinking about this a couple of days back, I came across 2
such actresses, that he has not acted with. Could somebody please point out in his
or her opinion an actress that Dev Anand has not acted with? All info appreciated.

I think there surely would be more than 2 ! Well... 40s to mid-70s

singh (not sure), bindiya goswami, moushami, ....
or are there any films with any of the above that I have missed ?

Simi Garewal was one of the actresses in "Teen Devian".

And Rakhi was with him in "Banarasi Babu." Also a bit role in
"Heera Panna" too, if I remember correctly.

Devanand did act with Nargis in an early 50s movie called "Birah Ki Raat".
The movie was a big flop but musiic composed by Pt.Hushan Lal-Bhagat Raam was
very good and a famous duet by Rafi-Lata can still be heard on Radio Sri Lanka
on Hamesa Jawan Geetone Ka Programm. The song goes like this "Chhota Sa Fasana
Hai Tere Mere Pyar Ka".

Thanks a lot for all the information that I received regarding the above query.
As regards the quiz, I may have worded it wrong or it could have been
misinterpreted. I had specifically mentioned leading actresses, by which I meant
that the actress should have atleast appeared in a sufficient number of movies.
Most of you got one of the actress that I had in mind correct. This was indeed
Rekha. The other one I had in mind was Jaya Bhaduri. All throughout her 29 movies
(yes, that is all she has done), she was very popular, from Guddi to Zanjeer to
Silsila. Till Zanjeer, I would say she was a bigger draw than Amitabh, yet Dev Anand
never made a movie nor acted opposite her. One reason I can think of is that
due to her homely appearance, she would not have suited Dev's idea of a
glamorous heroine, which is generally what he portrayed. As regards Rekha, I guess
she was too new to the scene when he was still making good movies, and then she
just jumped into a higher category, and came to be associated with the Big B type
of movies. Ironically even Amitabh has never acted with Dev Anand despite acting
with almost all the other major actors.
The only 2 other actresses that I can think of are Shabana and Smita. Shabana
although having appeared in a number of movies in the mid 70's alongwith VinodK
was still typecast as an "arty" heroine. The same held true for Smita till the early
80's. Again as with Jaya, I can't imagine either of them as a Dev Anand heroine.
This does not take away anything about their acting.
I received a number of replies, about the actresses people thought that Dev had
not worked with. I shall list them here and will tell you exactly the movie in which
he has worked with them. Of these there are only 2 against whom he has not
worked, but I do not regard them as leading actresses. So here goes:
Nargis- "Birha ki Raat"(1950).
Shyama (of Aar Paar fame) - "Nili"(1950) and again in "Sazaa"(1951).
Ameeta( Of Tumsa nahin Dekha fame) - Not acted in any movie, but leading lady??
Hmmmm..??? Maybe.
Neetu Singh-- Same as Ameeta.
Nimmi(of Barsaat fame) - "Sazaa"(1951), "Aandhiyan"(1952).
Parveen Babi --- "Bullet"(1977)
Raakhee-- "Banarasi Babu"(1973), "Joshila"(1973), "Heera Panna"(1974)
"Lootmaar"(1980), "Anand Aur Anand"(1984)
Meena Kumari-- "Sanam"(1951), "Tamasha"(1952), "Badbaan"(1954),
"Kinare Kinare"(1963)

NOPE. I remember a song " PYAR Mohabbat, Pyar Mohabbat ki siva
ye zindagi kya zindagi." Both of them are in a boat of some kind in the
rain. Maybe the movie is PYAR MOHABBAT.

Ameeta was in MUNIMJI with Dev and Nalini Jaywant. SHe may not
have had the romantic lead with DEV. Remember seeing this song - "Shivji
duhai chale " where Ameeta plays Parvati in a re-enactmentof the
Shiv-Parvati union.
On this thread this song must be the earliest try at group
synchronized choreography (or whatever you call it. a la "Ladki hai kya,
re baba iski ada"). Check out Shivji doing some funky moves in drunken
stupor with his cronies.
