Question about trends in Indian music (about the Asha-Khaiyyam postings)

Hi, all...

Had a question about something I read in the Ashak-Khaiyyam posts to group
some weeks back. People had noticed that the album failed in part to really bad
orchestration.. It used synthesizers and electronic drums or something to that
effect. It was mentioned in that context that the person who introduced that
trend was the recording engineer for a lot of cassettes, etc... Daman Sood.

Could someone tell me more about this ? I would really appreciate it. I have
been trying to pinpoint when our music all of sudden started to all electronic.
A good case in point is someone like Jagjit Singh whose music is not only
rehashes of his older compositions, but also completely omits using
traditional instrumental backing like he did in his earliest recordings. It
makes the singing rather unlistenable at times no matter how good the poetry
may be.
