Gajar = Buzzer/Alarm

I know of atleast two languages this is right in:
Marathi and Hindi. Maybe Gujarati also.

Other song-reference:
Suno gajar kya gaye samay guzarta jaye
(movie:???, artiste: geeta dutt, music: OPN?)

Yup! gajar = alarm or could also mean time depending on the context. But
in gujarati gajar = carrot :-)

Gajar in Gujarati means carrot.

But...
in the context of the song, I wonder what one would mean by
Gajar ne kiya hai ishara...

In which language does is mean any of the above?

The only one I've heard of is
in Gujarati:

Gajar = Carrot

Here's an example of a _totally_ pointless thread :

_All_ those who have heard the song and know Gujarati ought
to know that :

1. In the song, it goes 'gazar', and not 'gajar'

2. In Gujarati, carrot = 'Gaaaajar' !
^^^^

So, can we stop carrotting, please ?

Niravbhai ni baat sachchi chhe, gajar maane carrot,
paN Niravbhai ne fillum no naam khabar nathi.

"Gaajar ne kiya hai ishara", which Nirav is
talking about is NOT from Tridev. It is from
the dubbed version of Hollywood's cartoon
film "Bugs Bunny"

I hope this clears matters... :-)

Never heard of it. It will take more than blatant assertion to
convince this Hindiwala!

What say, folks?

Bingo! Join the clean-up-rmim gang! (:

And gazar as we know, rhymes with buzzer... (:

Amazing how the obvious escapes most...

And use the stick, you mean? (:

Yes.

If you continue listening to the song, you will understand that 'gazar' is clock.

Sorry.Vinod Arekarji, the song " Suno , Gazar Kyaa Gaaye " the music director is Sachin Deb Burman , not OP Nayyar as told by you . The song is sung by Geeta Dutt ( parental surname Roy , became Dutt after marriage with legendry actor , director, producer Guru Dutt ) . The song is from the movie " Baazi " ,a 1952 release . The song was picturized on actress Geeta Bali shown singing in a night club along with Dev Anand and Rashid Khan .) The lead female role was performed by Kalpana Kartik ( real name Mona Singh , spotted by Dev Anand's eldest brother Chetan Anand during a beauty contest in Simla and given chance to work in the films and was later married to Dev Anand. She did 6 films in her entire career all against Dev Anand as hero. The last being Nau Do Gyaraha 1957.) Lyrics were penned by Sahir Ludhianvi.
