Q: What is Shin Shinaki Boobla Boo
=========================

I have not seen the film, but find the film title very intriguing.

Can someone please elaborate. Did it had a a 'Jadoo - Toona' type
theme ?

Also is there a VCD available ?

Thanks

It is like "Laila MajnooN" or "Sohni Mahiwal" --- the names
of two lovers. One was Shinshinaki and the other was
"Booblaboo". I do not remember exactly, but they were
supposed to be from the North-East.

Minor nitpick: It's Shin sinaki not shinaki.

Interesting Web tidbit (http://cinepick.com/Pak/rehana.html): Shin
Sinaki Boobla Boo (1952) became the first film to be banned by the
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting because of its low moral
tone’ and because it ‘throws the glamour of romance and heroism over
criminal characters, treats sacred objects irreverently and is, in
consequence, opposed to the interests of public decency and morality’.

"Shin ........ Boo" is a 1952 film, with music by C. Ramchandra.
And "Surya Toran" (the Uttam/Suchitra starrer) is a 1958 film
with music by Hemant Kumar. Can we say that the original tune
was plagiarized by H.K. ?

Also, the Bengali song seems to be playing on the car radio.
But Suchitra keeps on looking at Uttam Kumar in a way that
suggests he is actually singing the song.

BTW, I also remember the title song of "Shin....Boo". An odd
type of song. The last words "Boobla Boo" are uttered much
faster. I don't know whether its audio is available online.
I think both these songs were on the same 78 rpm record.

IMO, yes.

Suryatoran is the Indianized version of Ayn Rand's 'Fountainhead'.
There are no songs picturized on Roark/Uttam Kumar in this movie
because of the nature of his character. IMO, Suchitra's expression can
be attributed to two things - one, she wants to reinforce the
impression that Uttam's "soul" is singing the song, and, two, to give
an impression that the song is "almost" lip-synced by Uttam because of
the popularity of Hemant-Uttam songs during that period.
