(a mission on trial run.)
Hi everyody!
Thanks for boosting my morale in my venture. It was not a bad thing to start
with. There were quite a few flaws in the Treasure Hunt as I realised
afterwards, but I am a great learner and I will take care in future.
It was amazing that all the hunters reached at the treasure sooner or later
(mainly because there was no real restriction to stop where you don't crack a
clue). However, none of them could crack all the clues!! I thought it was too
damn easy. Leaving out only one hunter (that's what I prefer to call them as),
rest all flunked at clue number 8. Too bad, especially as it happens to be a
very favourite nember of mine. I think I should give a song review on ATMJH on
this.
Lets first have a look at the answers. Then we can move over to the Winner.
Clue:1
"Jinda hoon ish tarrah ke gham-e-jindegi nahin
Jalta hua dia hoon magar roshani nahin."
These beautiful lines marked the entry of one pf the legends of Indian Film
Industry as a director. A director, who was very famous for the beautiful
numbers in his movies. He had righjtly told in one of his rain songs that, 'I
won't be there, you won't be there, but our signs will be there for times to
come.' (Clue-2) We salute you Sir!
ANS: PYAR HUA IKRAAR HUA (SHREE 420)
Look at the song that you got as clue-2.
The co-actress in the movie was at one point of time the number one star.
Hardly anybody was there as popular as her. Why, she even insisted in one of
the movies with Raj Kapoor and Dillip Kumar that her name should appear first
in the casting as she was a bigger star than either of these two! So
versatile was she that she made a movie of split personality, which is
considered as the best movie on the topic even today! In this movie, which
was a story of day and ight, she had a baeutiful song calling for a stranger!
(Clue-3) Really strange, isn't it?
ANS: DIL KI GIRAH KHOL DO (RAAT AUR DIN)
Look at the song that you got as clue-3.
The two singers of this song have given many beautiful numbers together. In
fact, in one of the movies concerning the actor-director in Clue-1 and the
actress in clue-2, they had two beautiful numbers based on rainy night. This
movie, which was a copy of an English movie, was again copied in the nintees
by Mahesh Bhatt. Your Clue 4 is the rainy song from the movie, which talks of
the fire lit by the moon!! (Song started by male voice)
ANS: YE RAAT BHIGI BHIGI (CHORI CHORI);
Look at the song that you got as clue-4.
The male singer of last two clues has been a living legend for years. Though
he is known for many of his songs, only a few could make it to the top of
Binaca Geet Mala. One such song was in early 70s, picturised on the
supporting actor of the movie. This movie marked the starting of the stardom
for the most popular Indian actor of all times. This song is your clue-5.
ANS: YAARI HAI IMMAN MERA (ZANJEER); NOT JINDEGI KAISI HAI PAHELI.
Look at the song that you got as clue-5.
This song talks of a particular kind of human relationship. (like bahi,
dost...). One such person is enough for a life time, but what happens when
four such people meet?(clue-6). Picturised on the hero of the movie, this
song had created quite a big laughter in thos days. Of course, all were not
during the times when one was drunk!!
ANS: JAHAN CHAR YAAR (SARABI)
Look at the song that you got as clue-6.
This movie had a song, which begged for love. This song was perhaps the
biggest hit from the movie. It had both male and female versions. However,
this song has been lifted from one of the older numbers from a mega movie of
Dev Anand. This older number is your clue-7.
ANS: ALLAH MEGH DE PANI DE (GUIDE); NOT DE DE PYAR DE, PLEASE READ THE LAST
SENTENCE AGAIN.
Look at the song that you got as clue-7.
This song, sung by the MD himself is also begging for something to God. But
what is it? I wonder how could we get good songs had God not given this thing
to us! There has been a beautiful comedy-classical number by Manna Dey in a
very old movie on this topic. In this song, Manna Dey is calling this
particular thing to come down, with lines like ... ban mein koyal kook uthi
hai, (koo... koo... in a comic style in the background)... sab ki man mein
phook uthi hai..... (Clue-8)
ANS: LAPAK JHAPAK TU AA RE BADARWA (BOOT POLISH)
Look at the song that you got as clue-8
The director/actor of this song is a landmark of Indian Cinema. He virually
'rulled' the Indian Cinema. Well he was not the only one with a power to
'rule'. There were many others, the most famous one being the ruler of
seventies, asically due to his style. For nearly a decade, he was definitely
the king. His policy in life, truth has to prevail(Clue:9). Hey, be carefuly,
never make enemity with him!
ANS: SACHAI CHHUP NAHIN SHAKTI (DUSHMANI); SORRY HERE FOR MY INITIAL GOOF-UP.
Look at the song that you got as clue-9.
In this song, he has also told something about some kind of flower. What was
it? Well ignore it as your next clue (10) is a song, from the movie by the
name of the flower we talked about. This movie is said to be the life story
of another legendary director, who also acted/directed in the movie, against
his lady love. So our clue-10 is a real ironical song, movie directed by the
actor/director, picturised on his lady love and sung by his wife(this song is
acclaimed to be the most popular number in her life.).
ANS: WAQT NE KIYA KYA HASHIN SITAM (KAGAZ KE PHOOL)
Look at the song that you got as clue-10.
The first word of the song gives us the name of one of the mega hit movies of
that time. This movie had a kawali in it. This is your clue-11.
ANS: AE MERE JOHRE JAWIN (WAQT)
Look at the song that you got as clue-11.
Two lead actors of this multi starred movie had earlier acted together in a
movie as father and son. This landmark cinema marked the career of the
actress we have talked about so frequently today, as the greatest actress
ever in Indian Cinema. There is a bidaee song in this movie, that is still
popular today. (Clue-12)
ANS: PI KE GHAR AAJ PYARI (MOTHER INDIA)
Look at the song that you got as clue-12.
Can you name the singer of this song? This singer, though came at the time of
other greats, did manage to leave her mark. Apart from Lata, asha, Geeta etc.
she had to encounter stiff competition from another female singer-actress,
very well known for a love story with one of the lead actors of her time.
Your next clue (13) is a Ghalib Ghazal, sung by this singer-actress we
refferred to as well as the greatest male singer of this time as two separate
solos, with different tunes. Well, one of the antras summerises my feelings
while thinking of appropriate clues. Mein udas hoon..... Need I say more?
After all, its something that just does not happen, even if you try to make
it happen!!
ANS: NUKTACHIN HAI GHAM-E-DIL
Look at the song that you got as clue-13.
This is an easy clue, if you have got the last one. The voice of this clue is
the other singer we talked about in the last clue. It is a song composed by
R.C. Boral and lyrics by Wajid Alli Shah. To make it even easier, let me tell
you, it is from a movie, where the singer/actor is acting as a singer, a
different kind of a singer! Gali mein phirta hua gayak!! The mood or
occassion of this song is the same as the song in one of the previous 3
clues. This song is one of the greatest hits of this sensational singer of
the fourties.
ANS: BABUL MORA (STREET SINGER)
Look at the song that you got as clue-14
.Try to hum this tune, a landmark song of the fourties. Now try to sing
Yahoo.... Chahe koi mujhe junglee kahe in this tune. Could you sing it? well,
its really tough. Infact, this has been really tried out in a movie of the
early nintees. A movie by a director, who completed his silver jublee in
movie making recently. This movie, though widely acclaimed by the critics,
bagged manny awards, but was a box office debacle. It is said that, the movie
came ahead of its 'time' as Indian audience just can not accept such a vague
and out of place love story!! Coming back to our topic, this modified
yahoo... was picturised on Anupam Kher (who bagged Best Commedian in Filmfare
Awards and Best Supporting Actor in another Award for this same role!) as a
part of a parody. This parody begins with a song that we discussed in the
first three clues. So for a change, your next clue is the name of this movie,
from the movie maker, who is famous for his love triangles.
ANS: LAMHE
Look at the movie that you got as clue-15.
In this movie, which revolves around five characters, the parody number comes
as a comedy. In this, there are several mukhdas of yesteryears (like ghar aya
mera pardeshi, bindiya chamkegi....) being picturised on the four stars.
However, towards the end of this parody, there is a song, that is picturised
on the same actress, who there in the original number nearly twenty years
ago, of course as a heroine in this Dev Anand hit. So your next clue is this
original song from the Dev Anand starrer, which found its place in the parody
after twenty years, with the same actress!! Song is sung by Lata Mangeskar.
ANS: AAJ PHIR JEENE KI (GUIDE)
Look at the song that you got as clue-16.
The actress involved with this song, was a real gift to Indian Cinema. Famous
for her acting, her dances and nevertheless, her beauty, this great heroine
had made her deview as a vamp! Such a beauty was she, that Shakeel had gone
gaga over her beauty with equally beautyful lines from a wellknown Muslim
Social Movie. This superhit Rafi number, describing the beauty of this
actress is your clue-17.
ANS: CHAUDHVIN KA CHAND (TITLE SONG)
Look at the song that you got as clue-17.
This is also your penultimate clue to reach at the ultimate answer. Welldone
so far. Now a little difference in the style of the clue. Go to Navin Kabra's
Itran Song book and find out the serial number of this song, i.e. Clue-17.
Whatever the number is, just square it. The result you get is the serial
number of your last clue, i.e. the clue to the treasure of this hunt.
ANS: TUJHE KYA SUNAOON AE DILRUBA.
The Treasure:
Go again to Itran Song Book and find the song bearing the number that you got
after squaring. Your treasure is the singer of this song. A singer, who has
been the treasure of Hindi Film Music for years. Till date, I am sure, he is
as popular as he ever was. Famous for his versatility and his ability to make
people understand quality music, has put him ahead of all others. You are the
treasure that we cherish sir!!
ANS: OF COURSE MOHD. RAFI

It seems that I don't have the luck to finish anything at one go! As per
communications received today morning, we are having three winners, the third

Congratulations to all three of you.
