I recently found some songs sung by Danny Denzongpa, sung in Nepalese.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised by his renditions. They were
pretty good, and the compositions were pretty melodious too.
Are there any Hindi songs rendered by him ?
Here are the youtube links to a few of the Nepalese songs sung by him:

At least one: "sun sun qasam se", a duet with Asha Bhosle for 'Kala
Sona'.

I recall one song by him in the film "Yeh Gulistan Hamara",
stg. Dev Anand and Sharmila Tagore. It was a 1972 film.

Hi,
Thanks all for the responses.
Of the list above, I have only been able to find "Sun Sun Qasam Se"
from "Kala Sona". I searched for the songs from "Yeh Gulistan Hamara",
but I didn't see Danny's song.
I must say he sang pretty well, at least to my untrained ear, :-).
A few years back I had gone to Devon street in Chicago looking for
this video.
When I mentioned the name of the movie, the store owner started
singing
"mere naam aao, mere paas aao" !
That's the song in question...
Sri
That's a good indicator that the song was big hit (it was) in those
days. Even though the store owner (I suppose you went to Bombay
Video) has a very good knowledge of films and music of 1950-80, the
first thing he recalled was this song as soon as you mentioned the
film name and this indicates the film is now remembered more (or maybe
only) for this song. But I do not like it and wonder what made this
song such a big hit. Any idea? Crazy lyrics?
'sun sun qasam se' (Kala Sona, 1975) was another hit from Danny,
though not as big as 'mere naam aao'. The Kala Sona song is one of my
all-time favorites - very well sung by both Danny and Asha, and
brilliant composition by RDB and easy lyrics by Majrooh.
Asif Saahab
It does have 'easy lyrics' by Majrooh. I remember a friend and I had
a laugh a few months back looking at this song on some channel, where
a supine Farida Jalal looks up at danny and says 'pyaar karoge tabhii
haToongee' :)
3 songs from the film "Yeh Gulistan Hamara" were big hits , even when
the film bombed. The Kishore Kumar wave was very high during that time
and this could have been the reason for the popularity behind 'Suno
meri baat' and 'Gori gori gaon ki gori re' (I consider this as one of
SD's best songs). Mera naam aao mere paash aao was popular mostly due
to the comic feel . It had Johnny Walker professing his love to
Jayashree T - and the usual ched-chad which is typical to Hindi films
(though it was established previously that Johnny Walker and Jayashree
T were lovers, much before JW professes his love for Tuna (JTee) in
the form of a song !!)
The VCD available in India has mercilessly mutilated the song - a 4
minute song has been edited to something around 30 + seconds. This is
a criminal offence. There ought to a law against unscrupulous chopping
off songs , often the only chicken soup for the soul in an oh so awful
film.
I know what you mean. The easier line was 'bhaarii gaThariyaa nahii.n
uThaanii' though :-) In those 1976 days when the song was still
popular and I had learned to play radio, my brother and I used to feel
amused by this line until we saw the film years later - and did not
agree with Danny. Farida Jalal does not look like a 'gaThariyaa' at
all - she looks very cute instead. Anyway, the song was also nicely
filmed:

Both Danny and Farida Jalal were refined artistes and you can see them
acting very well here in this song too. The video has the 3rd stanza
missing. I have the film's video, but do not remember if it does or
does not have full song.
