And beautifully sung by Jagjit Singh

Kal chaudhavii ki raat thi, shab bhar raha charcha tera,
Kucch ne kaha yeh chaand hai, kucch ne kahaa chehra tera

Is shehar mein kis se mile, hum se to chuuTi mehfile.n
Har shakhs tera naam le, har shakhs deewana tera

Kuche ko tere chho.D kar, jogi hi ban jaaye magar
Jungle teri parbat tere basti teri sehra tera

Bedard sunni ho to chal, kehta hai kya acchi ghazal
Aashiq tera ruswa tera, shayar tera, Inshaa tera!

bye for now

Agreed!! BTW, has anyone heard Ghulam Ali sing this ghazal? I
personally preferred Jagjit Singh's version, but comments welcome.

Lovely ghazal and excellent rendition by Jagjit Singh.

I have been searching for a particular ghazal also sung
by Jagjit Singh, "Ye Inaayetein Ghazab Ki". Wondering if
someone has the lyrics.

Is this an Ibn-e-InshA Ghazal too? I'm almost sure it isn't.
Anyways, here are as many ash'aar as I remember of this Ghazal.
You can find a recording of this in the HMV twin cassette pack
of "Jagjit-Chitra: Live at Royal Albert Hall, London." I
think the album was released in 1984, or thereabouts.

yeh inaayateN Ghazab kI, yeh balA ki mehr_baanI
meri Khairiyat bhI poochhI, kisi aur kI zubaanI

meri bezubaaN aaNkhoN se, yeh gire haiN chand qatre
woh samajh sakeN to aaNsu, na samajh sakeN to paanI

terA huSn so rahA thA, merI chheD ne jagaaya
woh nigaah maiN ne Daali, ke saNwar gayi jawaanI

There's another sh'er that JS sings in this recording that
goes:
<some first line goes here>
yeh ghaTA batA rahI hai, ke baras chukA hai paanI

which I don't recall completely. I will check up in my
archives (ha! aren't I boasting? :) and let you know ASAP.

Yensoiy! :)
Ravindra.
