Andaaz-e-Bayaan Aur: gul khile chaa.Nd raat yaad aaii

Jehan and which Asha versioned in an album named 'Kashish'. However, I
don't know if a Noor Jehan version of it really exists. The ghazal has
been included in a compilation of Asha's non-film songs/ghazals named
'Diva' and is also available on musicindiaonline.com (the place where
I listened to it).
In the second she'r I cannot hear Asha properly around the word which
I think is 'saawan'. It may be something else. It would be nice if
someone who has a better audio version can help with the word(s).
Another exquisite Nazar Hussain composition.

NJ's version exists and may be found in one of her Tarannum series
compilations.

Thanks for the lyrics. Your mention of 'Kashish' reminds me
to bring up the question of the corresponding Noor Jahan
songs.

Why wouldn't it? The six of the nine songs in 'Kashish' for which
I could locate the originals follow the original very closely, in
tune and orchestration.
The Noor Jahan rendition of "gul khile chaa.Nd raat" is included
in a number of compilations, e.g., Golden Collection 2-CD set of
RPG and a cassette from Pakistan, 'Noor Jahan: Sab Ki Pasand'.

'Kashish' has the following songs. For the ones with asterisk,
I haven't been able to get copies of the Noor Jahan originals:

True, they are indeed close versions. I was just not sure if the
original of this one (gul khile..) is also by NJ, because I did not have
listing of Kashish, plus I could not find this one at
musicindiaonline.com's wonderful collection, which has many of the other
Kashish songs.

To be frank, I don't know which one of his compositions are/were more
popular or noted because it was hard to find a single reference of Nazar
Hussain on the net, when I tried last. Nor I am aware of any of his
released works. All I have come to know is that he used to work for
Radio Pakistan and Pakistan television and most of these NJ ghazals were
composed for PTV.
I had posted lyrics of few of my favourites composed by him some time
ago. A search for "Nazar Hussain" in RMIM archive @ Google groups should
give you the posts. You can start here:

songs of Kashish were originally composed by Nazar Hussain for Noor
Jehan. And I think now you more or less know which other NH compositions
I was talking about. I can't seem to get enough of #1,4,5,6,8,9
mentioned in your list and almost in all cases I like both NJ's and
Asha's versions almost equally. Some others of NH/NJ that I like are:
* lutf wo ishq me.n paaye hai.n ki jii jaanataa hai
* dil dha.Dakane kaa sabab yaad aayaa
* ham naa nakhat hai.n naa gul hai.n
* apanaa afasaanaa hai shauq-e-naakaam
Just to note, my information of these being composed by Nazar Hussain is
based on musicindiaonline.com. That's also the place where I found all
these gems.

This is a really superb one. My CD says the music is by Nazar Hussain
and lyrics by Qateel Shifai.

I remember that in one of the interviews Noor Jehan commented in
praise of Nazar Hussain-" jin logo.n ko classical moosiikii kaa ilm

I missed to notice this earlier. This one is not composed by Nazar
Hussain, but Mohsin Raza. No wonder it did not figure in my
absolute-favorites list :). I like it though.
And after all it seems that Kashish is not a total NH album contrary
to what I believed earlier.
