In the movie Banarasi Thug (Manoj Kumar, Vaijaya Choudhry) there is a
song "aaj mausam ki masti mein gaaye". It was sung by Rafi and Lata
and is almost identical to 'Ek Chameli Ke mandve taley' from Cha Cha
Cha. Both the movies have Iqbal Qureshi as MD and were made around
the same time (if my memory serves me right). Why would Mr. IQ do that
- considering he was quite talented and had a whole bunch of sweet
tunes up his sleeve.

You can hear the song at :

(We all know that he is not the only one who has recycled his own tune
for more than one movie. Question for RMIM - Has anyone recycled their
song more than once - for more than one movie?)

This has amused me ever since I heard 'Ek Chameli ke'. Another example
was Ravi using 'In havaon me' from 'Gumrah' for 'Din hain bahar ke'
for Waqt. Shankar (Jaikishan) used the same tune for his stanza in
three songs: 'Sun baal bramhachari' (Sanyasi), 'Chorni hoon
main' (Chorni" and 'Achchi bhi lagti hoon' (Garam Khoon). Also the
stanzas of 'Chahe ko mijhe' (Junglee) and 'Dil ka guldasta' (Vachan)--
also by SJ-- are similar. But none to beat Mr. IQ, whose entire songs
are identical including music pieces.
