Songs from this film has been in my 'Good Songs List' for many
decades. However,
I saw the film only about 3 years ago from a VCD source. In addition
to to the
songs available on LP / cassette / CD, there are 3 dance music
numbers
in the film.
I have been wondering for long time about the source of music's
composition,
specially the song:
Jab Nain Mile Naino Se ... Pyar Ka Jaado (listed on album
as: Lara Loo, Lara Loo)
Was the tune and instrumentation an original composition by Naushad
or
was it copied / inspired from some Spanish song ?
Of the 3 Dance songs, the 1st one is just before the above listed
song and
actually is part of the same scence
The 2nd one is just after the song: Roop Ki Dushman
The 3rd one (about 30 minutes before The End) is a very long number -
over 7 minutes
and the visuals are similar to Waltz style dance.
Comments on the originality of these 2 Dance numbers will be
appreciated.
Thanks
Sudhir
Note: I might have read somewhere that the film story was inspired /
copied from
'LOVES OF CARMEN'
You MUST have read this somewhere. The Hollywood Film was made in
1948 and starred the elegant Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford (the
latter in the role played by Suresh). Even the words "Lara Loo"
were "inspired" from the Hollywood Film. Rita too dies in the
same fashion at the end.
If a Producer/Director asks you to compose music for such an
"inspired" film, why blame the Music Director ? I would still
say that Naushad's music in the film was excellent.

On a related note, "lara loo" was used in a dance number in the
successful Telugu film: "paataaLa bhairavi" (1951, with NTR in lead role
and music composed by Ghantasala). It took me long years to get hold of
the film "Loves of Carmen" - thanks to a friend at Yale, who kindly made
a copy for me. Now the film is easily available on DVD.

I think there may be quite a bit of modifications from the
source film: Loves of .... (which implies multiple affairs),
while in JADOO there is only one male character.
