Shrinivas Khale, Marathi music composer passed away yesterday, in Thane,
India. He was 85 years old.

His famous songs include "Shrawanaat ghan nila", "Ya chimanya no, parat
fira re", "ugavalaa chandra poonave cha", "bagalyan chi maal fule".

Leading singer and music director Shankar Mahadevan was his disciple.

IIRC the iconic "Shukratara Mandavara" is also his composition
(actually quite a long list of popular bhavgeet and bhaktigeet in
Marathi). Would love to see a more detailed write-up about him -
anyone?

While much is spoken about Shriniwas Khale's songs for Lata and Asha,
very little is spoken about his collaboration with Usha. And hence
gems such as the serene, beautifully rendered "khinna yaa vaaTaa" go
unnoticed:
