Nargis was one of the reasons actress Shammi had to change her
name. Shammi's original name was Nargis Rabadi. Since Nargis
was already such an established leading lady, the "Nargis" in
the Parsi lady's name had to go. Also, Rabadi was a well-known
costume designer. And so the "Rabadi" part of the name also had
to be dropped. Ultimately, she settled on Shammi as her filmi
name.
