I was making list of my favourite lata/rafi duets and to my surprise i
did not recollect single one by madan mohan. The i tried to remember
any other duets by MM but there were hardly any. I could remember 2
duets in jahan aara ( ae sanam aaj & bad muddat) & one in adalat
(jamin se hame).

Isn't it very strange ? has he really composed so few duets ? Can some
add few more .( off course i am interested in O mister o madam or mera
nam abdul rehman type duets.)

Even for lata/rafi combination u would find very few duets by SD (
tere ghar ke samne, aradhana, talash) while he gas composed tons for
asha/rafi or asha/kishor combo.

Another good Lata-Rafi duet by Madan Mohan is from
Gateway of India, "Do Ghadi Wo Jo Pass Aa Baithe".

Can't recall any Lata _ Rafi ones apart from the one mentioned by Abhay.
I do recall a Rafi - Asha duet from Dulhan Ek Raat Ki tough;
"aap ko pyaar chhupane kii burii aadat hai"

Here I can surely do better :)

IIRC the first Lata - Rafi duet by SDB is from Ek Nazar (1951).
The song in question is "mujhe priit nagariyaa jaana hai".

SDB didn't use much of Rafi in 1951 to 1956 phase and after 57
he used Rafi but he had a rift with Lata. That's why there are so few
Lata - Rafi duets in SDB's repertoire before 1963.

After 63 we have more. Apart from the movies u mention, add
Jewel Thief, Ishq Par Jor Nahin, Anuraag.

It wud be interesting to find out the % of duets among the total songs
by a composer. I have a hunch that MM's % will be one of the least.

AFAIR, this duet is from neela aakash, not DERK.. Also the song in hanste
zakhm "tum jo mil gaye ho to ye lagta hai" has lata's voice (though for a
short time). Another one is "ab agar hamase khuda_ii bhii Kafaa ho jaa_e"
from Laila Majnu (Jaidev + Madan Mohan).

A hamaracd search gave "chha.Dii re chha.Dii" from Mausam as Lata-rafi MM
combo. (Since people challenge reliability of Hcd, rightly so, so I am
mentioning them separately). Other ones are "la.Dii aa.Nkh se aa.Nkh" from
pocketmaar, "merii duniya me.n" from heer ranjha, "raaste me.n a.njaane do",
"ye hawaa ye mastaanaa", and "ye to kaho kaun" all from akeli mat jaiyo.

There are many asha-rafi ones (long to be posted).

Perhaps search with hamaracd can be repeated here too. I am sure SDB will be
having more Lata-Rafi (like Navketan films had many lata-rafi-sdb combo, eg,
tere mere sapne, guide, jewel thief).

Tere Mere Sapne & Guide doesn't have any Lata - Rafi duets.

Anyways Geetkosh is much more reliable then Hamara CD.
I already mentioned that Jewel Thief has a Lata-Rafi duet.

Madan has comparatively fewer "hit" duets as compared to say a
Naushad.
My favorite Madan duet is Lata-Talat's "Yeh nayi nayi preet hai" - as
breezy as they come, and both singers sound refreshingly sweet.

Other ones worth a mention would be Lata-Rafi's "Do ghadi woh jo paas
aa baithe", Lata-Talat's "Teri chamakti aankhon ke", Asha-Talat's
"Hamari gali aana acha ji" (dont know why I enjoy this song so much),
Lata-Talat's "Tumhi to meri pooja ho" and Rafi-Suman's "Baad muddat"
which you have identified.

Couple of more films by SDB with Lata-Rafi duets are:

Meri Soorat Teri Aankhen
Aaradhana

Hi friend,

So many information mistakes in all the posts!!!!

1) "Aap ko pyar chhupane ki'' was not from film ''Dulhan Ek Raat Ki'---- it was from film ''Neela Akaash''.

2) ''Tere Mere Sapne'' had no Lata- Rafi duet

3) ''Guide'' had no Lata- Rafi duet

4) Lata- Rafi had sung excellent duets, under the baton of S.D. Burman. For the entire list, let me know.
