I have been hearing that the Telugu cine star Chiranjivi has
acted in many Hindi movies, and in fact some of them are/were
big hits. But, I have not watched any of his Hindi movies.
So, I appreciate it if you could send/post his Hindi movies,
categorizing them into hit/flopp/good/bad.

Thanks in advance.

I know of at least 2 Hindi films starring Chiranjeevi:

I can't remember the first (starts with a P?), but it had Juhi Chawla; it was
a moderate hit, I believe.
His other film was a smash (although why it was so, bhagvan hi jaane),
AAJ KA GUNDA RAJ with Meenakshi.

Has anyone seen "Pratibandh" (sp??), starring Chiranjeevi. My cousin told
me it's a good movie but I had never heard of it. Infact, noone in US seem
to know about it. I think it was a hit in India. BTW is Chiranjeevi a good
actor? I have heard a lot about him but never seen him in any movies.

The one starring Chi. & Juhi was a mega hit, not just moderate. It was titled
Pratibandh, I think. Ya, aajka goondaraaj was also a hit. i think it was remake
of a telugu movie.

Pratibandh was a very good movie, I liked it. Has quite a bit of violence, but
the movie has good story, acting and action. The villain (can't remeber his name)
speaks a word quite often (like Mogambo) and it was a catchy one. This movie and
Shiva(Nagarjun) were a success at the box-office.

I was trying to recollect Pratibandh, instead I recalled
Pratighaat. Does anybody know if Chiranjeevi was in Pratighaat or not ?

NO. Chiranjeevi didn't act in that movie. Incidentally, Pratighaat was also a
major hit, with Sujata Mehta in the lead. The movie was about atrocities on
a woman and how she later takes the axe and kills the villain. The villain
was a new actor and apparently, he gave a good performance.

He is the highest paid actor in India. I know it does'nt answer
ur question. He is better than most.

Pratibandh. Remake of Telugu movie Ankusam.

Remake of the Telugu movie Gangleader.

Lots of his Telugu movies were dubbed into Hindi.

Pratighaat *ed Sujata Mehta and was a remake of a Telugu movie
Pratighatana (Vijaya Shanti). The movie in question is
Pratibandh.

Probably above might have been a coincidence with the story of
"Pratighaat". The original was a Telugu movie, as some others
mentioned, by name "Prathighatana". The people close to the
production of this movie told me that the story is based mostly
on the life history of famous goonda, by name Vangaveeti Radha,
in Vijayawada(AP) in 70's. He was a terror in this city for quite
some time till he was killed. His brother, Vangaveeti Ranga, was a
Cong-I MLA for many years, and was also killed by Telugu Desam
goondas in 85/86. Whole of coastal Andhra was in flames after his
murder. The main accused in the killing was a TDP MLA by name
Devineni Nehru.

The villain in the original Prathighatana(Telugu) and the remake
Prathigaath(Hindi) was a person by name Charan Raj. His action in
both the movies was just superb. He is a Kannada actor.

Incidently, Pratighaat was based on a real life Character from Northwest

part of Bihar. His name is Kaali Paande. The villain in the film is also
named Kaali. Whole area was terrorised by him. A daring IAS officer tried
to put him behind bars, but he killed the IAS officer in broad daylight
in front of his office . He filed for election from prison and was elected
as MLA due to terror campaign by his goondas.

Incidentally, PRATIGHAAT was the first major commercial success for
director N. Chandra, who then delivered almost immediately afterwards with
the mega-smash TEZAAB, which catapulted the-until-then-unknown Madhuri to
superstardom.

You querry about his Hindi movies has already been answered. But no one
has talked about his Telugu movies dubbed into Hindi.
I have been one of the many fortunates to have had the honour (I am not
in USA, so I spell the British way :-)) of seeing two such films.

1. State Rawdy
2. Secret Agent Raja

I saw the movies, when I was in the mood of seeing some thoroughly
disgusting movie, the first one failed in satisfying me, but the second
succeeded like no other movie. :-)

The first one has all the attraction in its name only, "State Rawdy".
It's some name for a movie, you must agree. But otherwise the movie is
just another flop. The director wanted to make a good masala movie, but
fails.

The best thing about the other one "Secret Agent Raja" is that the
director has absolutely NO intention whatsoever to make a good movie !!
He frankly and openly goes about making a bad movie.(Very innocent guy.)
And let me tell you, he more than fulfils (remember, I spell the British
way ;-) ) his promise.

It's a "must see" for anyone who has some sense of humour (again British
spelling).
I can mention some very positive and hilarious points about the movie.

1. Right from the begining, everybody (including the villian) is calling
our Chiranjivi by the name of "Secret Agent Raja". So you see, it was
never a secret. Isn't the name of the movie perfect ?
2. The costume designer is years ahead of the Paris designers. I mean,
you will see the villian in a shining 3 piece purple (!) coloured (!)
suit and to show contrast, our hero will be in all bright yellow.
Including goggles with yellow glasses !
Other wonders are in plenty, but you must see for yourself.
3. The villian and Raja meet many times, and everytime yell at each
other "I will kill you". Not only the public gets bored of such empty
threats, but even a character in the movie ! And this fellow asks
Raja, "Why do you just keep on saying so and not even try once ?" !?
Some Goedelian twist. Luckily Raja doesn't answer "Mu" ;-)

I can go on and on, but it will take out the fun when you watch it. I am
sure you will watch it, won't you ? And you also don't think, that I
should have included some "spoiler warnings", do you ? :-) :-)

Now I know you won't believe this, but I really enjoyed this movie.

- Abhay.
BTW, please don't tell my email address to anybody. Some people
are out to get me. They were once my friends, whom I forcibly
took along to watch this movie.

I think N.Chandra's first hit was 'Ankush'. This was definitely
released before 'Pratighaat'. 'Ankush' did very well in the box
office.

Only two straight movies have been released so far.

All other movies casting him are dubbed from Telugu to Hindi.

His two movies are Prathibandh and Aaj ka Goondaraj.

Both of them were big hits. Particularly, the first one when

there were very few hits that year.

He didnt start acting in his third movie as yet.

Many people want to make a movie with him.

The list includes Mahesh Bhatt, Subhash Ghai, Rajkumar Santoshi.....
