"Bambai ka Babu" is a great SDB soundtrack. Buy it!! Buy 2 copies!
Okay okay let me tell you more about the other songs other than "Chal
ri sajni" and "Deewana Mastaana hua dil" .... love the way Asha teases
with "pe me ge me ri ge pe me ge me"
3) Dekhne mein bhola hai dil ka salona
An evergreen playful chhed-chhad song by Asha & chorus.
4) Aise mein kachu kaha nahin jaaye
This is my favorite song from the movie for some odd reason. Maybe
it is the association with the poignant moment in the story when
Suchitra comes to know of the truth about Dev Anand having thought
of him as her brother all along. By the way, watch the movie if you
get a chance!
The conception of the scene is beautiful - the song switches between
being a song/dance sequence by a group of wandering street
performers and a background song potraying Suchitra's state of mind.
Again Asha is simply wonderful ....
5) Saathi na koyi manzil
A great Rafi solo... but definitely loses in ranking to the
outstanding male solo in the film by Mukesh.
6) Pavan chale toh uThe nadi mein leher si
Again a nice fun Rafi/Asha/chorus song.
7) Tak dhum tak dhum baaje
Is a Manna solo appearing at the very beginning of the film.
Nothing spectacular, Manna got a raw deal!
Had a discussion with C & Vish sometime back on "Chal ri sajni"
.. notice the instrument playing the haunting melody at the beginning
for a good long time? That instrument apparently is a "taar shehnai".
It is beautiful!
Vandana.
P.S. I am waiting for UVR to send me ME(10) still! I will hop into
RMIM briefly to post it. In the meantime, yesterday I had taken a
break to see what's going on in RMIM and noticed the whole hullabaloo
over Geeta, etc!. I am very very partial to Geeta and hence wasn't
overly bothered! :)
I want to share some interesting information about
the song"Dekhne mein Bhola hai dil ka salona
Bambai se aaya Baabu Chinnanna".This song was
inspired by the telugu song "Eeru vaaka saagaroo
Ranno Chinnanna Nee Kastam antaa teerindi roi
Ranno Chinnanna"from "Rojulu maarayi"(1956).
This song was picturised on Waheeda Rehman
and shot her to instant fame(she had nothing
much to do in the film ).Guru Dutt was impressed
by waheedas dancing capabilities and signed her
for his next film C.I.D(as a vamp)and the rest
is history.By the way C.I.D had Dev Anand and
Shakilaa in the lead roles.
