Shyam Benegal's Bose, that was to be released next Friday is
in a new conroversy over Bose shown in film as marrying an
Australian lady Emily Shenkel.

A researcher Jayant Chakrovorty has said that there are
proof that Bose did not get married to a foreigner.

Five researchers are ready to approach court on this
account. They have also sent their complaint to the
chairperson of censor board, Sharmila Tagore, and to the
information and broadcasting minister. The researchers
include Rudrajyoti Bhattacharjii, madhusudan pal, surjit
dasgupta and nand dulal chakroborty.

Jayant is saying that on 23 nov 1939, Netaji had applied
for a visa to go to China, and has mentioned himself as
unmarried in the form.

Some two years ago, the same group of researchers had sent
Shyam Benegal a notice asking him not to show Netaji having
died in air-crash.

(My comments: seems that Benegal conceded because his film
ends with Bose going to board the said flight.)

Researchers have also said that if Benegal does not remove
romantic scenes from the film, they will go to court.
Chaudhary says that Netaji's family members also do not
confirm nejaji's marriage with Emily Researchers also
question netaji's 164 loveletters written to Emily.

On the other hand, Krishna Bose, the wife of Shishir Bose,
the nephew of Nejaji said that Bose has made an excellent
film on Netaji's life. The family had allowed Benegal to
researh in their family archive about Bose.

These guys need to grow up. Why can't a freedom fighter (or for that
matter anyone) have a romatic life as well and what's wrong in showing
this?

I am pretty sure Emily Shenkel was an "Austrian" not an Aussie.

Anyway, Why can't these "Researchers" agree that Shyam Benegal is
simply portraying what his research shows and it can be different than
their research..

yesterday's retype was from a Hindi paper, and did mention
Australian.

Today, an English paper also printed similar news.

- It indeed mentions "Austrian"

- The correct spelling is Emilie Schenkl.

The english newspaper adds:

- Netaji's family says he married Schenkl secretly in 1937,

- Bose and Schenkl's daughter Anita Pfaff and her husband
Professor Martin Pfaff, a former member of the German
Parliament, have visited India several times.
