family groups who seem to dominate Bollywood are related? I believe Raj &
Shakti Kapoor are brothers: which of them fathered whom among Rishi, Anil,
Sanjay & Karishma? Aren't Sunny & Bobby Deol sons of Dharmender[sp?].
Kumars Dilip, Kishore & Akshay? And what of Clan Dutt, or some major
family that I in my gringnorance am wholly unaware of? I've only been
going to Bollywood films regularly for the past year and a half, but my
impression is that a few families dominate both before and behind the
camera, and I would love to know something about how they all fit

I hope this helps to rescue you a bit. Iam not really aware of lots of
relationships in bollywood but some are on hand and they go something like
this. Raj and Shakti kapoor are not brothers. Infact Shakti is no relation to
Raj. Raj was the son of prominant theatre and movie actor, Prithivi RAj Kapoor.
His other sons included Shashi Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, all prominant actors.
Infact they contributed a lot to the indian cinema and are regared the first
family of Bollywood. Raj had three sons and I don't really remember how many
daughters (since they are not in movies). All the three sons are actors
although all, except Rishi, are not as succesful as their father. Rishi is
suppose to be one of the most sort out actors of bollywood with many mega hits
(mainly womam oriented though) to his credit. MAny of these mega hits were made
by his father, like, Bobby, Prem Rog and Henna (Raj wrote the scrip for the
movie but his eldest son Randhir directed it). RAndhir and RAjeev (the other
two sons of Raj, were not all that good in movies (as actors) so both opt for d
irection.
At present Rajeev is making a movie with Rishi and Madhuri (premgranth or
something), according to critics he is a match to his father, atleast
techniquely. The rest will show once the movie is released.
Karishma is the granddaughter of Raj and is the second lady from the
Kapoor clan to break the taboo of kapoor ladies entering the movie. The first
being Sanjana kapoor, daughter of Shashi kapoor, who stared in a flop film by
Chetan Anand, Hero Hiralal. I beleive she quit movie acting and is presently
concentrating on theatre. Karishma is RAndhir's daughter and her mother is the
old time star Babita.
Sanjay and Anil Kapoor are brothers, both are sons of famous film
producer Surindra Kapoor (Phool Khile Gulshan Gulshan, Woh Saat Din, Mr.
India, Etc.). Anil and Sanjay, are cousins of Rishi and brothers. As seen they
are related. There eldest brother Bonny Kapoor is another `big' producer in
India at the moment (not all the big after two washouts in a row, Roop Ki
Rani.., and Prem).
Sunny and Bobby Deol are indeed the sons of Dharmendra and Bobby is to
be seen very soon on the screen in Dharmendra's own production `Barsaat'.
(written and directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi, Ghayal Fame).
There is infact no realtionship between Dilip, Akshay and Kishore
Kumar. Infact Dilip's real name is Yusuf Khan and If Iam not wrong, Kishore is
a younger brother of Ashok Kumar (also an actor, still around).
Raj Kapoor and family are one of my favourite movie makers. Infact all
their movies were blockbuster except a few (Shatyam Shivam Sundaram and Mera
Naam Joker). Films like Ram teri Ganga maili, made by Raj, went up to be one of
the highest grossing movie of all time. Infact they are famous for undressing
women under the water fall at the minimum.(perheps one of the reasons why they
don't allow they ladies to make it into movies).

The movie was directed by Ketan Mehta, who has also directed movies

of RAjendra... Confirmation accepted..

Narendra Nath is not related to Rajendra Nath. Prem Nath and Rajendra Nath are
brothers.
