Hits or Flops ??
Spring
I am not sure about some movies, ie. box-office hits or flops.
So can anyone help me out ?
Movies:
1) Khuda Gawah - Amitabh
2) Mera Naam Joker - Raj Kapoor
3) Shehanshah - Amitabh
4) Main Khiladi Tu Anadi- Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan
5) Sir - Naseeruddin Shah
6) Anjaam - Madhuri Dixit & Shahrukh
7) Jadugar - Amitabh
8) Tufaan - Amitabh
9) 1942 A Love Story - Anil Kapoor and Jacki Shroff

Flopped when released initially but might have made money in
the re-releases.

A moderate hit..
: 4) Main Khiladi Tu Anadi- Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan
Worked well in the big cities but not too well in the smaller
places..Made money though...Akshay is the new bankable star.His
movies are normally safe bets!!
: 5) Sir - Naseeruddin Shah
A hit..
: 6) Anjaam - Madhuri Dixit & Shahrukh
Flopped..
: 7) Jadugar - Amitabh
A big flop..
: 8) Tufaan - Amitabh
Again a big flop..I think the above 2 must surely rank as Amitabhs
worts movies to date..
: 9) 1942 A Love Story - Anil Kapoor and Jacki Shroff
A hit in the metros but did not do too well in the smaller centres..

It was one of the top 5 grossing films of 1992.
Yet it was not called a super-hit due to its huge cost.

Did a business of around 1.5 crores/territory which was
more than QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK in 1988 but was considered
a moderate success due to its high cost.

Amitabh starrers were sold at a high price of about 75 lakhs/territory
those days (the avg. top star film sold for 30 lakhs) and both TOOFAN and
GANGA JAMUNA SARASWATI grossed 1.5 lakhs/territory. Only JAADUGAR flopped
miserably.

The film did a business about 1 crore/ territory and was considered a
moderate success due to its high cost.
