Maaya song list
01. Koi sonay ke dil waala - Rafi
02. Zindagi hai kyaa, sun meri jaa.n - Rafi [This is inspired by Theme
from Limelight - so not this one!]
03. Tasveer teri dil mei.n, jis din se utaari Lata, - Rafi [Have heard
this, incredibly beautiful number. Sure not this one!]
04. Jaadoo Daale hai machal machal - Asha, chorus
04. Jaa re, jaa re uD jaa re panchhi - Lata [Another fabulous number,
the Bengali version even more beautiful...Not this one either!]
05. Phir ek baar kaho, isi adaa se kaho - Lata, Dwijen Mukherji
06. Ai dil kahaa.n teri manzil - Dwijen Mukherji
07. Ai dil kahaa.n teri manzil - Lata
08. Sanam tu chal diyaa rastaa mere binaa - Rafi
~ That brings us to the other inspiration of 'too much tequila'. I
found a song very similar to it in the recent movie 'Bharat bhagya
vidata' - the song 'Nigahon mein ho tum'. I'm not sure who composed
the music for this movie. The song starts very much like 'too much
tequila' but meanders to a typical Hindi filmi tune soon. Should we
call it a confirmed inspiration?
~ The third instance is what I would prefer calling, a coincidence!
More so because 'too much tequila' is used somewhere deep inside the
song and not in the beginning! The song is 'tara rum pum' from A R
Rahman's Doli sajake rakhna. For ease of listening I've edited the
song to its relevant portion and so on, so that you get to listen to
the part which resembles our tequila song, first! Now, I personally
find it unlikely that Rahman sits down and decides to use the tequila
song in the second line of para 2...which is why I felt it was a
coincidence! What do you think?

portion of the Doli sajake rakhna number at

AFAIR 'Too much Tequila' was used in "Mayaa" (in its original format, i.e
without any adaptations/improvisations) as the background music being
played by some musicians at a party to which Dev Anand goes. It was not
an inspiration for a song per se in the movie.

It was indeed in one of your messages that I saw the note on Maaya and
Too much tequila.
Lemme add the clarification on Monday.

Just listen to SJ's song in film AMAN in Rafi's voice ; " aaj ki raat
ye kaisee raat , ki humko neend nahin aati "
