I tried soc.culture.indian.marathi but no reply so I am posting this here
hoping that someone has an answer to this. Has Lata Mangeshkar sung any Lavani
numbers for Marathi movies. AFAIR I can remember both Asha and Usha but I am
sure I am mistaken. Any one ?

Also has Lata sung any 'Natyasangeet' because I know Asha had some great
'Natyasangeet' songs in her earlier days.

Regards

Sudeep

There is a VERY old Lavani duet by Lata and Panditrao Nagarkar from an
ancient Marathi movie called 'Honaji Bala' (I believe its like a 40s
movie) - it goes something like -
Ghadi Ghadi Arey Manmohana Hasuni Gunijana
Dekhta Nako Re Boloo Masee

However, being as old as it is, it is not in the same popular lavani
style as the other Usha/Asha ones ('Bugdi maajhi sandli ga, jaata
sataryala', etc.). It's quite melodious, actually..

That's the only one that I know of.

There is a Marathi cassette called "Lavanya Lata - (Lata
Mangeshkaranni Gaayilelya Laavanyaa)" which has some of
Lata's lavanis, mostly from Marathi films. Some are non-film.

The songs (and MDs) in it are:

1. raatichi jhop maj (Hridaynath Mangeshkar)
2. sajaN shipaai pardesi (Ram Kadam)
3. bol bol na sajaNaa (Usha Mangeshkar)
4. laTpaT laTpaT tujhe chaalaN (Vasant Desai)
5. sakhyaa sajaNaa (Vasant Desai)
6. nakO door deshi jaao (Vasant Desai)
7. laavinaa turaa pheTyaasi (Vasant Desai)
8. rajasaa javali jara basaa (Hridaynath Mangeshkar)
9. chukli ga gOphaN phek (Datta Kargaonkar)
10. tujhya phritiche dukh malaa (Vasant Desai)
11. are nand nandana (Ram Kadam)
12. nakO boloo ro (Vasant Desai)
13. kiti jivaalaa (Hridaynath Mangeshkar)
14. sakhyaa sajaNaa nakaa tumhi jaao (Ram Kadam)
15. dere kaanhaa choli aan lugaDi (Ram Kadam)

The collection has a nice variety (songs that are playful, serious,
sad, beseeching etc.). It also seems to have songs from relatively
new as well as very old recordings. "Sakhya sanjaNaa" seems to be
the recurring phrase in this cassette. There are three songs from a
film called "sakhya sanjaNaa", and two songs that start with "sakhya
sanjaNaa". Any significance?

"Latpat latpat tuze chaalne g mothya nakhryache"
