Cadbury brought back memories of Radio Ceylon by using the song 'Khush
hai zamaanaa aaj pehlii...' for its ad. It suddenly struck me that I
have always heard this song. never seen it. a search on youtube comes
a cropper.
Does anyone remember who it is picturised on. A video link would be
great.
Regards
Ravi
The song definitely bring back old memories of glorious period
of Radio Ceylon. For years it used to be played on every first
of the month, in farmayish, and later in purane filmo ke geet.
It might not have been played on DD anytime, as I know.
Since it was a movie of 1954, many of present RMIMers
would not have seen the movie, including myself. The
chances of second run would have been bleak, not
being a great movie. The star cast was, from the net source,
Raja Nene, Nirupa Roy, Agha, Ramesh Kapoor, Sudha,
Yasodhara Katju. From this, it can be guessed, the song
would have been picturised on Agha. The lyrics of
Qamar Jalalabadi ( his real name Om Prakash) were
tuned by Sudhir Phadke and Kishore Kumar made it
lively, for many of us to remember for ever.
According to the book on Kishor by Kamal Dhiman it is picturized on
Maruti.
I vaguely remember that the song was picturised on Agha, but I may be
wrong.
Perhaps, Afzal Saheb can confirm this.

Sukesh
In this link, in the list of Maruti movies,
Pehli Tareekh does not appear, not sure about
the site's authenticity either.
I this case, I suspect that the book has a mistake.
I contacted son of Mr. Raja Nene (director of Pehli Tarikh) about
this song. Although he has seen the movie, he was not able to
recollect the actor immediately. But he has said that he will get back
to me within couple of days with the name of the actor.
If I get any feedback, I will post it here.
According to him, part of the song was picturised at Alka Talkies,
Pune.

Prakaash
Ameen Sayani mentions in Geetmala Ki Chhaon Mein CD series
that he found after a long research
name of actor on whom this song was pictuized on and it is Maruti.
Disclosure follwos by a short interview with Maruti.

Finally Maruti is the actor, on whom the song is picturised,
as mentioned by Professor in his post.
